MONTREAL – The eye-catching sight downtown of a car partly swallowed up by what appears to be one of the city's infamous potholes is "an advertising project of some type," a Montreal police spokesperson said Tuesday morning.
"I don't have more details on it than that," Constable Daniel Fortier added.
A visit to the website promoted on the police-type tape protecting the scene – also an unusual sight, given that's it's bilingual – turns up the name of the Taxi advertising agency.
It's a pothole registry, to promote an Apple iPhone app.

The morning pothole from hell was placed on de la Cathédrale, just south of René Lévesque Blvd. W
