Colourful Montreal

Montreal always had colour both in it's people & surroundings...the blue-est skies , the real lush green lawns & trees ,this painting of fall in Montreal is an example:

Depending on your screens resolution capabilities , you may have a more clear picture using the viewer in the regular size,...but give it a shot either way ,you should recognize many parts of the old City we once called home..... HF&RV

Here is where I 'lifted' my avatar from,it was a poster for Irving berlin show, he wrote a tune to go with it.
It can be heard also on the Art Deco Montreal site (under Music )

Nice Les, as always. Where did you get the Montreal watercolour?

Hi Glen, the watercolur came from a site called 'fine art america' (or something like that) here's the link
http://fineartamerica.com/featured/autumn-in-montreal-carole-spandau.html
However there are a few Montreal Artists who do some neat stuff about Montreal too.
Have a look at some of these done by a gal name of Laurie Campbell
http://www.klinkhoff.com/canadian-artist/Laurie-Campbell
There are a few others that sre interesting too........HF&RV

Hi Les and Glen, thanks to both of you for liking my Paintings of Montreal. Thanks for the live link to CAROLE SPANDAU at FINEARTAMERICA, its a great website, they feature over 500 paintings of my MONTREAL and HOCKEY scenes, For out of towners reading this, you can order prints and cards of my Montreal landmarks directly through them, But if you are still in Montreal, you can make an appointment at my NDG studio, just phone 514-486-0731, and leave a message.
Les, I especially want to thank you for featuring one of my paintings as a NEW YEARS 2009 story. You obviously watched my interview on CTV with Rob Lurie, and then you posted one of my MONTREAL WINDING STAIRCASE paintings. I so appreciated it at the time, and always wanted to write and say THANK YOU...because you did send me brand new clients, so thanks from me, a very hard working artist. I am working at painting all sorts of fascinating and beautiful streets, restos, cafes etc, every day, in every season. I am also well-known for my hockey paintings, kids playing in the streets, and Hockey at the Forum and Bell Center,, AND BEST OF ALL, MY PRICES ARE REASONABLE AND AFFORDABLE, IF you like my work, there will be something you can buy, for certain.. Thanks again for showcasing me, I truly appreciate you, AND I LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY WITH ALL MY HEART. thanks everyone, Carole Spandau

Hi Les, really fun speaking with you. Where abouts do you live now, I love Verdun, the people and the streets are unforgettable. Truly. Thanks for including more info on me. The greatest joy for me as a little 9 year girl, was studying art under the super great founder of the GROUP OF SEVEN, as you pointed out in my bio. He, ARTHUR LISMER was a true inspiration, loved Canada from coast to coast, and taught me to be passionate about colour...His words still echo today. PS I taught high school art for 15 years at THOMAS DARCY MCGEE HIGH SCHOOL on Park and Pine. Wonder if any of your readers were my former art students, from 1970-1985. Would love to see what they are doing today.I know the vast majority has left Montreal, in search of greener pastures, I am so happy to have discovered you Les, and your terrific articles, please feel free to use any of my paintings to illustrate your upcoming writings. See you again, your brand new friend, Carole
