This is a wonderful collection of photos from newspaper clippings with captions and detailed information of Montreal and surroundings (including Verdun) of Churches, Hospitals, Streets, Manufacturers, Professionals, Schools, etc. dating back to the 1700. ..... Pauline

Pauline,
Yes, the Massicotte collection is a very good reference for researchers. There are 2 photos of Verdun churches in the collection, Verdun Baptist Church 21 October 1911 and the Verdun Presbytarian Church November 25th 1911 wich I have added to our archives (SHGV) and wich I have sent to one of our new members (SHGV) who is doing research on churches in Verdun since it's foundation. I am also adding these 2 churches to my photo Album no. 32.
It is amazing what this Edouard-Zotique Massicotte has accomplished in his lifetime.

Hi Guy-Amazing that all this information has been documented and that we have this wealth of information to enjoy today. Guy did you see the house that you were referring to a while ago where some kind of important documents were signed at the corner of Church and Lasalle ???? ...Pauline
Pauline,
I did not find the house called The Pavilion where the foundation of Verdun was signed in 1876 on the Massicotte site. Can you tel me where it is.
Guy
In the index go to V- Verdun(ville)then
Lasalle(chemin)(19 images) at the top of the page on the right then
go to the last picture on that page. Good Luck ...Pauline
The one I thought you wanted is called "vieille edifice coin Lasalle et Church 1910". Is that the one???

Pauline,
That's the one. This is the first time I have seen this photo wich I am adding to my collection of photos in my Album no. 29. This was an important house in the history of Verdun where the foundation of Verdun was signed in 1876 until the Verdun administration under the direction of mayor Edward Wilson decided to demolish the building. What a shame. Unfortunately it was not the period when people were interested in conserving these historical buildings. Today there are people like DINU BUMBARU, director of Héritage Montréal who are fighting to preserve these historical buildings.
Pauline, thanks for the information.
Guy
Hi Guy I just visited your site and as usual enjoyed my visit into the past. I posted this comment below.
"Glad its an original to your collection. What a good looking building that has been lost forever. Some mistakes are irreversible and very costly. The citizens of the City of Verdun have lost a large piece of history that will only live on in memories and in pictures of yesteryears.Shame on you Mr. Wilson for not looking farther than the dollar bill."
