While in Verdun on Saturday I went to the Auditorium as someone told me that there is a plate (plaque) commemorating the accomplishments of Scotty Bowman. The Auditorium was closed but I found a small plate about 12 x 18" in the front flowerbed and of course somebody had to put grafiti on it. There may be a more imposing plate inside the lobby and I will check it out in the near future. I think this illustrious Verdunite deserves a bronze statue for all that he has accomplished in hockey.

Scotty Bowman did indeed do wonderful things in hockey. What he did not do, however, were wonderful things in his earlier life. He has a son who has been a patient at Douglas Hospital for his entire life. Not only that, but he was deemed to be a "ward of the State", effectively meaning that he was paid for by the good citizens of Quebec. Not sure whatever became of his son, as he would be getting on in years by now, but I only hope that Scotty still thinks of him from time to time.
Was the Verdun auditorium home to the Verdun Junior Maple Leafs hockey team? And how frequently did they play the auditorium? It's a research question. Thanks.
Yes it was & there was also the Verdun Cyclones who played there and whose Goalie was Gump Worsely in 1945 -1950 ? after the army move out. They were also called the St Francois Exavier one year with Gump
g pilon I am one of the good citizens of Quebec and I have no problem with my tax dollars supporting anyone who would have the misfortune to have need of Any Hospital regardless. I’m sure Mr. Bowman has paid enough tax dollars to support many hospitals. What allegedly happened in Mr. Bowman’s personal life is personal. Pauline Garneau
