Rebirth of the Verdun River Bank

In 1965, (Forty four years ago) the city of Verdun started reclaiming the waterfront for recreational puposes as shown on the photo wich appeared in the Messager. Having bicycled along the river several times, it is quite an accomplishment as there is no such facility in the Montreal vicinity. The downside is a lot earth was dumped over the riverbank narrowing the channel between Verdun and Nun's Island. Hopefully no more earth will be dumped on either side of the river and that environmentalists are keeping an eye open for the developers who I am sure are lurking behind the scene. Several highrise residential buildings have already been built and others are under construction wich is not necessarely bad so long as it is not overdone.
