POM BAKERY - light fruit cakes

OK guys I am on a serious quest.  My family "sometimes" send me a POM fruit cake for Christmas - so I need some sleuths in Montreal or West Island or Brossard/St Hubert area to let me know if they spot the Christmas Fruit cakes in the can so that I can pass on sources.  They refuse to go to check out the various possibilities - such as Metro or Loblaws or IGA or????? My mother God rest her soul insisted on them tracking down a fruit cake for me - so folks if anyone spots these Christmas "must haves" could you post???? My son and DIL and 2 grand kids are coming to Calgary to spend Christmas/New Years with us so I have a carrier.

Roy I dont think that the Lion's Fruit cakes are the same - I have had Lion's when I could not get the Pom.

Maggie - really??????  in the can in the pom box????? I will be on the look out for sure.  We do not have a Super Walmart here in Calgary it is just outside of town in Airdrie - is your Walmart where you found the cake a SUPER??  sometimes I find Daily Fried Rice and St Hubert BBQ in the can and packet at our Walmarts - sometimes May West.  I have even found the split top hotdog buns at my Co Op - for making toasted hotdogs on my Panini - I dont do the weiners just the bun and steam the weiner.

Yes, POM fruitcake in the tin. At the regular old Walmart stoe, not a SUPER Walmart. It was in with the Christmas goodies. You know, the stuff that they put right by the door so it's the first thing you see? I also bought some May Wests a couple of weeks ago at the Extra Foods (Westfair) store right here in my liitle city. I haven't checked back to see if it was a "once in a lifetime" supply.

Oh thanks a bunch - I would not likely have looked there in that section although I do check it out for Valentines and Easter - now for sure I will be going to WM every week just in case.

I remember the Alouette. The Pom truck used to stop at my school every day at recess. The Alouette was one of the most popular items.
