It seems to me that there are tons of members on this site, logging in at various times throughout the day and no one can really pin point when they have a minute to chat. I suggest that we get a volunteer "chat host" schedule going. Times when you know that you can open the chat room. At least if a host is there to open the chat, when others log in throughout the day , they will know they will have one other person to chat with, hopefully more. You can (for example) schedule nightly chat from 7-11pm (to lesson the hosting time) knowing that there is at least one person on line at all times for people to talk to online. I would volunteer to stay on for a few hours to keep the chat open and I believe others would be willing to do that - we are verduners aren't we? Volunteering is in our nature. I would just make sure that you set up chat rules for the hosts to follow. P.S. You can make someone a host during the chat session without giving them manager status. Madeline

Ps: This site is monitored but not actively posting on a regular basis. Mostly these are stories & some photos saved from a defunct site known as Verdun Connections which was on MSN Groups initially then on a social network called Multiply.

Hello Madrealife (did I get that right..??) I believe you can invite anyone to the chat room at anytime...just click on the chat link once you've invited someone to talk with...........We do have scheduled (or at least tried) specific Chat times ..........but with memebers literally from all time zones it gets difficult...........Feel free to invite people any time..........I also see that we have quite a few members now and growing daily it seems........most like to read the posts and jump into a topic , when they like........some just read them .....that's cool too........ everyone is welcomed here..........Have Fun & Remember Verdun..........

Hi Madeline, I think it is better to just post that you are online and will be in the chat for a while if anybody would like to chat. We should just start a new discussion with the title Chat and if you are onsite and would like to chat just post the time that you will be in the chat room. We have done this in the past and you get a few people in there for a while. The set chat times just don't work here. If I see that someone is in chat I will drop in to say hi at the least. Dannyb
