YIKES Stuff

Feel like a burger now & then,................................try this one

Bob's BBQ & Grill of Pattaya, Thailand has smashed the current record for producing the world's biggest cheeseburger. The landmark in cheeseburger history was created in celebration of the king of Thailand's 60th year accession to the throne and was part of a wide range of events being held all year in Thailand to mark the occasion. The unveiling of the burger was witnessed by a local TV crew and officials from Ripley's Believe it or Not who recorded the burger's weight at a whopping 78.5 pounds which eclipses the previous record of 50 pounds held by Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Pennsylvania, US. Measuring 60 CM (23.5 inches) in diameter and 35 CM (13.75 inches) in height, the burger has been named Big Bob's Texas Belt Buster and is on the regular menu and can be ordered 12 hours in advance. “You can order it in the morning and it will be ready to eat in the evening“ says Bob Schindler, founder of Bob‘s BBQ & Grill. Bob, originally from Houston, Texas founded the restaurant just over 2 years ago to bring authentic American cuisine to Thailand and his oversized burgers have been a hit with locals and tourists. He was aiming to build a burger that hit the 60 pound mark but a few miscalculations resulted in the burger going well over the target weight.

Now That's   BIG  Mac,......................................

Montreal had some great Burger places too................but one of these at 3am might be just alittle much,....................................Sure would need a whack of Beer to wash down that baby.........hahahahaha

Cynthia Rodriguez files for the Big D

Cynthia Rodriguez has had all she can stands. And she won't stands no more.

Alex Rodriguez's wife has (finally) filed for divorce from her New York Yankees third baseman.

Her divorce petition states: "Alex has emotionally abandoned his wife and children, and has left her with no choice but to divorce him."

The petition goes on to state that the marriage is "irretrievably broken because of the husband’s extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct."

What does she want?

A LOT!

Primary custody of their two daughters Natasha, 3, and Ella, 3 months; the $12-million Coral Gables, Fla., home; alimony; life and health insurance; private school tuition; and equitable distribution of assets. He's rumored to be worth about $445 million, according to TMZ.

Although she signed an antenuptial agreement (like a post-nup, not a prenup) shortly after the wedding, her attorneys will no doubt argue that it is not valid.

"Cynthia is tremendously traumatized and devastated," Houston lawyer Earle Lilly told TMZ before the official divorce filing.

NO big shockero that infidelity is a "major cause" for the divorce, but not because of any one incident. Apparently, the straw that broke A-Rod's marriage back was Madonna, although she is not named in the petition and has told People that she is ''not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage."

But his former trainer says that A-Rod's interest in Kabbalah is due to Madonna's influence.

And as for those reports that Lenny Kravitz is in the picture, he has denied any affair with Cynthia Rodriguez.

Some websites theorize that Madonna and Guy Ritchie -- who will divorce later this year -- have had this whole thing planned to drum up publicity for her new concert tour and his new movie, "RocknRolla."

Ritchie will also be appearing at Comic-Con 2008 in San Diego later this month to promote his digital graphic novel and comic book series, "Gamekeeper," part of Virgin Comics 'Director's Cut' series. Coincidence?

C-Rod's divorce papers were filed first thing Monday morning by attorney Maurice Kutner. Cynthia is also represented by Anthony Sabatino of Miami and John Van Ness of Houston.

Three lawyers? Yikes. That's a lot of attorney fees A-Rod will be asked to pick up. Meanwhile, A-Rod has hired Shaq's divorce attorney to rep him.

Now things are gonna get ugly ...

les__f MSN said...

I suppose that's what you get for sticking A-Rod into Madonna.......       Yikes worth $445 M.....and you pick Madonna  now to me that's a YIKES maybe he can claim he just wanted to adopt her ,without her parents (read husband) permission........               hahahahahha                 HF&RV

Oh Oh !! Now it's cheese.........................................Yikes , that could be bad for pizza sales A salmonella outbreak Tue, 2008-09-02 22:21. Kelly LapareTHE CANADIAN PRESS

MONTREAL The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is expanding a warning over cheese products over a salmonella outbreak in Quebec that has claimed one life.

The agency is warning the public not to consume six more cheeses products because they may be contaminated.

The six cheeses, all manufactured by Fromages La Chaudiere, which is based in Lac-Megantic, Que., include recalls for cheese brands La Chaudiere, Polo and Tradition, as well as Super C cheddar cheese curd and block fresh.

The Super C grocery stores affected are in the Eastern Townships, Quebec City and Chaudiere-Appalaches region.

The new cheeses that have been recalled include cheeses with best before dates up to Sept. 29 and Oct. 29, 2008.

The tainted cheese was discovered by agriculture department inspectors at stores in the affected regions.

One person has died and nearly 90 others have fallen ill from the salmonellosis outbreak in the province.

The lone victim is an elderly person who lived in the Chaudiere-Appalaches region, south of Quebec City.

People who eat food contaminated by the Salmonella bacteria can contract salmonellosis and about 1,000 cases are reported each year in Quebec.

Salmonellosis symptoms, which can include diarrhea, fever and vomiting, usually surface 24 to 72 hours after the consumption of contaminated food.

The infection poses a greater risk to the elderly, young children and those with weakened immune systems.

Quebec's public health department has said the listeriosis outbreak reported across the country and salmonellosis outbreaks in Quebec are not linked.

Oh No , the Big 'O'(w.e.)  gets the nod maybe for Habs Centenial Year game............(I'd rather the hardware Stanley that is).........        but it may be neat for the Montreal'ers to have a Party Habs leaning toward game at Olympic Stadium Dave Stubbs, Canwest News ServicePublished: Thursday, September 04, 2008 MONTREAL -- The Montreal Canadiens have included a 2009 game at Olympic Stadium as one of their centennial projects, though the match is far from being confirmed. One of the auctioned lots at the team's annual fundraising golf tournament on Tuesday in Laval was a so-called "centennial experience," which included two tickets to this season's All-Star Game at the Bell Centre, a game in Montreal on Dec. 4 2009, marking 100 years to the day the team's National Hockey Association birth and a game at Olympic Stadium. But the Canadiens say there's not a strong link, for now, between that Dec. 4 game and one at Olympic Stadium. "A game (at the Big O) is a project that we've discussed with the RIO," Canadiens vice-president Donald Beauchamp said Wednesday of talks the club has had with the stadium's provincial-government landlord. "That's as far as the project has gone." The Canadiens played in a stadium venue at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium on Nov. 22, 2003 in the Heritage Classic, an outdoor game to mark the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Edmonton Oilers. A crowd of 57,167 braved -18 C temperatures, -30 C with the wind chill, to see Montreal beat the Oilers 4-3. The NHL took a game outdoors last New Year's Day at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo when 71,217 fans saw the Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the hometown Sabres 2-1 in wind-driven snow, Penguins star Sidney Crosby scoring the winner in a shootout. New Canadiens winger Georges Laraque suited up for the Penguins in that game, having also played for the Oilers in the 2003 Heritage Classic. The NHL will stage another outdoor game on New Year's Day 2009 at Wrigley Field in Chicago, the Blackhawks to play host to the defending Stanley Cup-champion Detroit Red Wings in an Original Six matchup. The Canadiens will announce a host of centennial-related activities at a news conference on Sept. 24.                   GoHabsGo.....Have Fun & Remember Verdun

A train emerges from the Eurotunnel in Coquelles, northern France Fire closes Channel Tunnel 1 hour ago LILLE, France (AFP) — A fire on a freight shuttle in the Channel Tunnel on Thursday forced an emergency rescue operation and the closure of the tunnel, officials said. About 30 people on the freight train, mostly truck drivers, were evacuated from the tunnel, but no one was hurt, said a spokesman for Eurotunnel safety services. The fire was thought to have started on a truck being carried on the shuttle at about 3:00 pm (1355 GMT), which was going from the British side to France, Eurotunnel spokesmen said. The train was about seven miles (11 kilometers) from Calais, two thirds through the tunnel, when the alert was sounded, a British police spokeswoman said. All train services through the tunnel were cancelled until at least Friday morning, the French state rail company, SNCF, announced. The tunnel carries Eurostar expresses between London, Paris and Brussels, as well as freight and passenger shuttles between Folkestone and Calais. A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, on the British side of the tunnel, said it had sent appliances to a "serious incident." "We have a number of appliances there. It is a serious incident," a spokeswoman said. A Eurotunnel spokesman in Britain said: "The French fire brigade were on site to deal with a fire on a freight shuttle travelling from Folkestone to Calais. "The shuttle was evacuated and 32 people taken into the service tunnel. A train is now on its way from France to pick up the people from the service tunnel and take them back to France. "Eurotunnel has suspended services in both directions while emergency services deal with the incident," said the British spokesman. The tunnel was closed for several hours on August 21, 2006 after a truck engine caught fire.

Retiring Roy's sweater..........................................I do not agree,a two time Stanley Cup Winner (with the Habs) over 10 years, doesn't really qualify this character as a Lifelong Honoured Hab....(my opinion) He was not treated exactly right by Mario Tremblay (who was an a$$hole anyway) & backed up by Rejean Houle another overated player, who only got the job in the years where politics played a bigger role than ability on the Habs Team. Although I have to admit that He (Roy) was no doubt a good goaltender, but I seriously doubt he was 'rafter worthy'.......... His departure from the Habs ( although 90% Mario Tremblays Stupidity)was equalled only by his ( Patrick's ) own stubborness,.....afterall it was his incredibly poor performance against the Detroit Red Wings, that resulted in his abrubt departure from the Habs  I think his & Tremblay's handling of the episode was bascically childish, with both parties being stubborn & management can only (rightly or wrongly) support their management team.........Althouh I can't stand & never could stand Mario or Rejean ( the Habs were in tumultous years re: leadership.........and only (in my opinion) have returned to being a good team under the tutalage of Bob Gainey........So Go Habs Go for the upcoming season, but let's not continue this 'redcarpet night after night ceremonies'which serve to undermine the true honours which should be reserved for many of the old guard who wore the Bleau,Blanc, Rouge.... and many of course who played (without the compensation afforded nowaday mediocre players).............all this said I did appreciate Patrick's playing ability (who didn't) but I still believe he does not ,nor has he earned the true reason to retire a 'Team Player' sweaters.................2 cups in 10 realtaively losing seasons overall, should not garner any more respect than an acknowledgement of his goaltkeeping prowess , which was 'EncRoy Hab'..........hahahahahhahaha     Should the Habs retire Roy's No. 33? Montreal GazettePublished: 9 hours ago MONTREAL - The Canadiens will retire No. 33 in honour of Patrick Roy as part of the team's festivies celebrating its centennial season in 2008-09. The Hall of Fame goaltender led the Canadiens to their last two Stanley Cup championships in 1986 and 1993. Next, they try the public square in front of the Vancouver courthouse. This time they're arrested. In this CBC Television clip, Vancouver Mayor Tom Campbell defends the move.

The hippies are upset. They've been arrested for assembling in a public space. As far as they're concerned, their civil liberties are being restricted. Their arrests have been arranged under a special city rule which was originally aimed at ridding the city of vagrants. Now it's being used to rid the city of hippies. Yikes ...some imbecile or group of idiots is trying to blow up some of our gas & / or oil pipelines up in northern bc......this is the second attempt at blowing up a pipeline in as many days..... No serious damage done (yet) but who knows when they'll be successful...this second one was just mentioned on the news in the last 5 minutes...     I doubt it would be 'environmentalist' as if they were to be successful this would cause a lot of damage & endanger both people & of course wildlife Shows you one thing though, the pipelines are built strong.                                                                                                     HF&RV

Ok , here's an excerpt from a local small paper, telling us that there is now a place where we can buy Poutine:             You know what , I never heard of Poutine ,all the while I was growing up in Quebec,....ever.... I heard of cheese curds (great by the way) I heard of fries & gravy,......( good if you like that).......but I never heard of poutine untill I had moved away,. but now it seems it's available here (for the time being ) as I've seen other spots start up here with Smoke meat Sandwhichs , as their expertise & of course the claim to fame of Montreal Style Pizza.....etc etc .............all of which never survive, because it's not something you would head out to specificlly get, unless your an Montrealer..............and let's face it this area doesn't have the population base to fill a spot like this ,to make it a going concern.....Althought I will make a point of going to try this place out,....& I'm sure I will have a great conversation with the owner ,should they be onsight.  I hope it's good/ great  as I wish them success.....Here's the article from the paper( a local paper,Victoria BC)............................              HAVE FUN & REMEMBER VERDUN...................

Here's something else to worry/think about: Winter tire shortage expected Last Updated: Monday, October 20, 2008 | 10:15 AM AT CBC News Winter tires are stacked high in warehouses now, but are not expected to last. (Lindsay Carroll/CBC) New legislation making winter tires mandatory in Quebec is expected to lead to a shortage in the Maritimes. Many Maritime retailers get their tires from Quebec, and the new law there is already having an effect east of that province. "It could potentially be very difficult to get certain tire sizes," Allan Harris, manager of Charlottetown's Miller Tires told CBC News Friday. "People should get their tires early and not leave them until the last minute, because if they do they could be left out in the cold." Harris ordered 2,000 tires for this season, but half of those are already sold. In addition to the new rules in Quebec, he said an increased awareness of the benefits of winter tires is adding to demand. A law passed last year in Quebec requires that all cars in the province be equipped with winter tires by Nov. 15, and they have to stay on the vehicles until April 15. At the time, the Quebec government estimated that 90 per cent of vehicles already used snow tires, though an estimated 500,000 people were relying on all-season tires. Quebec is the first province to require winter tires. Cecil Frizzell, manager of Cornwall Auto and Tires just west of Charlottetown, said he has been talking to his tire suppliers about the situation. "They said if people don't have them ordered now, meaning [retailers], they're not going to be able to get them," said Frizzell. Frizzell ordered extra tires this year, but is still not sure he will have enough. Canadian Tire stores believe they won't be hit as hard by the shortage because it carries some brands made only for the company. A spokesperson said stores were told months ago to order extra stock, knowing the decision in Quebec would create shortages ..............That's assuming you can asfford to buy gas:  hf&rv

Yikes Stuff,............now this has to qualify for this column: PRINCE.EDWARD.ISLAND (CBC) - While slicing some cheese for his children, a father in western P.E.I. recently uncovered a dead mouse in the middle of the block. "This would have been the very last thing I would have expected to find... in a block of cheese, which I buy every time I do groceries," Deborah Atkinson of Miscouche, just west of Summerside, said of her husband's discovery. Atkinson said her family loved Maple Dale's Caribbean brand cheese from Ontario, which has hot peppers and sun-dried tomatoes in it. A couple of weeks ago, while her husband was cutting slices from the last block he bought in Summerside, he gave his four-year-old daughter a couple of pieces to munch on. He made the unpleasant discovery a few cuts later. "Obviously he cuts it in little squares because our children are three and four," said Atkinson. "He kind of got to just about the middle and as he cut, he noticed what looked like fur." He immediately took the cheese, a few pieces already gone, from the children. They hadn't eaten any of the cheese from near the mouse, and they didn't get sick. The Atkinsons gave the cheese to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The CFIA immediately recalled about 300 blocks of the cheese from stores in eastern Canada. It did not issue a public recall, because it did not believe there was a health risk to the general public. The agency believes the mouse did not originate inside the cheese factory, but rather was brought in with some of the added ingredients, perhaps the jalapeno peppers. Maple Dale Cheese owner Keith Henry told CBC News on Wednesday that employees are now triple-checking all ingredients coming into the plant. "Thank heavens it is a rarity, but we do live in a real world and it happened, and it is extremely unfortunate that it has happened," said Henry, from the company's office in Plainfield, in eastern Ontario. CFIA officials acknowledged finding a mouse in cheese has a very high "ick" factor, but said it is not likely to cause any health problems. ........Say Cheese Please-----NO THANKS,  Yikes !!!   HF&RV

More bridge's cracking away,.........Great workmanship in these modern day structures,..........Yikes !! Piece of overpass on Notre Dame St. breaks away Montreal GazettePublished: 4 hours ago MONTREAL - A two-metre chunk of concrete that may have been eroded by a weekend flooding caused by a broken water main has shut down one of the busiest stretches of road in the city - just in time for the the afternoon rush hour. The debris fell from a CP overpass that spans Notre Dame St. E. between Frontenac and Alphonse. D. Roy Sts., punched a hole through the road surface below and caused police to block off the road by 1 p.m. "It's the road surface of the approach to the bridge," said CP spokesperson Michel Sp챕nard, "And on the weekend there was a broken water main, about a 10 inch pipe, and apparently it undermined the road surface and a huge block of asphalt or concrete fell (creating) a hole about 20 feet deep. "There's nothing wrong with the bridge itself and trains will still serve the Port of Montreal." The roads of Montreal, however, were a different matter, police closed Notre Dame St. between Frontenac and Alphonse D. Roy Sts. in both directions, a move that began to back eastbound traffic into the Ville Marie Tunnel and caused its Berri St. exit to be closed. The same stretch of road was closed late Saturday after a water main burst. Police say Notre Dame street will remain closed for the rest of this evening while city inspectors examine the road bed. An estimated 70,000 vehicles use the road daily.

They are spending a lot of money on Turcot as well as the Griffintown area with a supposed 1 billion plus development, but these have to be funded somehow, & with the economics of the day ,being what they are, I can foresee a lot of delays.in building.....                                                               HF&RV

lad:   We just spoke of this possibility the other day,.& I mentioned that with the economy the way it is ,look for delays in the big developmnet proposals such as Turcot & GriffinTown.......    This was in this mornings online Gazette Griffintown construction delayed until 2010 Developer blames economic turmoil. Committed to purchase of $13 million in properties, head of city team says In what is described as a cautionary step, real estate developer Devimco Inc. has decided to delay efforts to raise the first $400 million of the proposed $1.3-billion Griffintown redevelopment project, which was earmarked to finance the first phase of the construction. The reason is turmoil in international money markets, says Andr챕 Bouthillier, a spokesperson for the developer. "It was decided that given the current crisis in world banking it would be prudent not to proceed with the search for financing right now," he said. As a result, construction of the first phase of the project is scheduled to start in May or June 2010 rather than September 2009, Bouthillier said. The delay is balanced by the news the developer has raised $210 million from a consortium of investors to finance the purchase of properties, connections for roads and sewers and prepare preliminary plans. The mixed housing and commercial development is described as the largest private investment of its kind in the city's history. Plans include a one-million-square-foot outdoor commercial mall, 3,900 housing units, a 2,000-seat theatre, about 6,000 parking spaces, and parks and squares to be developed over eight years. Christian Lalonde, who heads the city of Montreal team that is working with the developer, said there are other positive signs to counter-balance the delay in seeking construction financing. "We are told that the developer is formally committed to purchasing three properties in the area for $13 million," Lalonde said. "This is a clear indication the developer is serious." In addition, offers to purchase properties last month covered 86 per cent of the territory, up from 72 per cent in April. "The project is moving ahead. Nobody could predict the financial crisis of October," Lalonde noted. He stressed that the fundamentals remain solid. Property values are strong in Montreal compared with the U.S., Toronto and Vancouver, and prices have not declined in the city. The developer has simply adopted a "prudent approach" to an "exceptional situation." But downtown merchants, who are leery of the project's ripple effect on their business, say this is a good time to rethink the concept, said Andr챕 Poulin, spokesperson for Destination Centre Ville. "We do not think it is a good idea to create a new commercial centre less than two kilometres from downtown," he said. The merchants believe the project should be strictly residential.   ........................Ok that's one project,......    We're in for some interesting times......................................................................    HF&RV
