Wellington Tunnel ,
Remember this tunnel well, as all of you do I guess, It went from a necessity to obsolete almost just in our lifetimes, certainly for a few of you anyway...Have a look at the old tunnel.
Some original footage of building Welllington Tunnel and a few others around Montreal The old footage is good forward thinking for it's day,..........the music (not so much).lol
The tunnel has been closed since 1994 & it has been in a state of decay like this for many years, today it is just a canvas for local graffitti artist,,,,,,part of our history changing along with the times, I guess,,,,, c'est le vie Cheers ! HF&RV - Les
Talking about state of decay I was on Woodland ave. today it was like a washboard. Nothing I believe what makes a city to look bad is the condition of their streets. I've been gone from Egan over 40 years and I remember them paving the street because my father ripped a muffler hitting a sewer cover, that was sticking out. If they want to become the new "Plateau" they need to upgrade.
I think I have a shot of the approach to the new overpass, but I am not sure where or what file it is in...I will post it if I come across it. Cheers ! HF&RV - Les
On the link in the previous post ,you can walk (using the cursor) right over that bridge over the canal on Wellington. ...but you probably knew that............ HF&RV - Les
I miss that tunnel! I remember late at night roaring down Mountain Street in my old Volkswagen coming from the Bistro to the south shore. Mountain Street led right into the tunnel and then around St. Patrick Street and onto the street to the Victoria Bridge. If you hit all the lights just right you could stay in 4th gear all the way.

I can’t find any pictures of the new overpass that replaced The Wellington Street tunnel but if you click on this link you will have a birds eye view of that area.
