MONTREAL - The Montreal police announced that the suspect they arrested Friday in connection with the death of Jolène Riendeau was released from custody early Saturday morning without being charged.
In a statement, Montreal police Sgt. Ian Lafreniere wrote that the investigation into the death of the 10-year-old girl, last seen alive in Point St. Charles in 1999, will continue. The death was declared a homicide after police uncovered Riendeau's remains on a date they have yet to reveal.
Lafreniere also stated the Montreal police will have no further comment until Monday.
