A Miner Energy platford 80 miles off the coact of Louisiana was rocked by an explosion on Thursday, the U.S. Coast Guard has said, according to Bloomberg News.
CNN reports that all 13 people on board the rig have been accounted for, with only one suffering injuries. Rescue helicopters were en route to the scene.
There is no word if any oil is leaking into the Gulf of Mexico, but a Coast Guard spokesman on CNN said the rig was not believed to have been producing oil.

this rig is reported to not be producing any oil,...( I suppose it was just a wastepaper basket & an errant cigarette)....................... but the other good news is this, That every rig explosion or oil spill, can now be compared with BP's big one & the inevitable excuse, "Well it's not as big as the last one'
but seriously the real good news is everyone is accounted for & only one injury,..and that is better than the last one,where eleven men died.
yes how we forget about the 11 people who died. I hope BP compensates their families although no amount can replace them
