Lake Macdonald
Dave and Alan:
You corresonded a couple of weeks ago about Lake Macdonald. When Dave mentioned the Gibbons, you were likely talking about my brother Stewart. Our family used to spend many summers at Lake Macdonald during the mid to late 50's.
I remember those long drives up Decarie Blvd. (pre expressway) and then the drive on a dirt road from Brownsburg to Lake Macdonald, all in our modern 1950 Ford.
I recall a number of families, specifically: Gibson (Grant is a city councillor in Brampton), Howard (Jimmie actually lives in Weir), McCarthy (Joey showed up at the Verdun reuinion 2 years ago), Ainsworth, Bennett, Hynes, Galts and Washer (used to have the cottage right behind McClusky's). Charlie Washer comes to the Verdun reunion every year and still has a place a Lake Macdonald.
I drove through Lake Macdonald two years ago. The beach seems somewhat smaller than what I envisaged from may last visit 40 years ago.

Potential get-together
A few of "us" ex-Verduners are coming into Montreal the weekend of August 13, and are looking to perhaps get some old friends together for a couple of drinks and/or a bite to eat. Anyone interested?

WAKE UP! LOL!
Hell it's quiet in here!
I've been away for a bit, fiirstly cuz I was recuperating after being bitten by a black widow spider of all freakin' things. I had always thought that if you were bitten by one of those things that you were a goner, but I discovered it ain't so y'all. You get mighty sick and it's very painful for awhile but once the mega-doses of anti-biotics kick in, you start feeling better. The doc told me that only 1% of people bitten by a black widow die and that's only cuz they don't see a doc about it. People....you do NOT feel like I did and not go to a doctor. Anyway, I'm all better now. And for extra measure, my hubby took me and my daughter to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for a 5 day mini-vacation on July 4th weekend. Ohhhhhh how sweet it was relaxing in my lounge chair by the ocean, watching my hubby fish and my little girl swooping to shore on the waves with her boogie board. And the sunsets....ohhhhhhhh the sunsets are so pretty there. Here's some pics.
What have YOU all been up to that's made it so quiet in here???
Luv, Sharon

Looking For Lynn Clark
I see in the latest message from Classmates Lynn
Clark now Lynn Edwards is a new member. My wife Susan Pilon was close to Lynn
when we lived in Verdun. Lynn also had a brother John whose nickname was Butch.
Does anyone know how to connect with Lynn.

looking for Goose Villigers
Hello,
My father and his 7 brothers and sisters grew up there. I visited it
once when I was ten, and all I remember was the smell of the slaughter
houses. Also the huge coal yards.
take care,
Bill

Looking for Goose Villagers
A member of your group suggested I post my message here.
I'm a young, Verdun filmmaker currently trying to make a film about old Victoria town or Goose Village, a social history of the place and its people. If you know any former residents, or are one yourself, and what I'm doing sounds interesting to you, please feel free to send me an email and I'll be more than happy to give you all the info.
Thanks so much. Rob

HAPPY CANADA DAY
I hope everyone's day is great.
I love this country we live in.
I couldn't imagine living elsewhere.
Take Care and have a gret Canada day.
