Bicycle Race in Verdun in the 30s
I got this photo from one of the sites Les posted of a group of cyclists preparing for a race in Verdun in the 30s. My guess is that they are somewhere on LaSalle Boulevard and the spectators are lined up leaning on the boardwalk railing.
I wonder if this bicycle race was sponsored by Wolfe Cycle ( as they sponsored plaenty of these bicycle events in Verdun at one time).I have some old photos of some sponsored Wolfe cycle deals somewhere ,perhaps later I will find them & post them......right now I'm off to have lunch. -Cheers !! , HF&RV
Les, Nice going Les, you turned up some excellant old photos of life in Verdun in the 40s. Too bad we don't have the names of the bicyclists who may still be around today and of the streets. Guy

Desmarchaus is definetly the street in question, Wolfe Cycle was right near there, & the infoormation I have says their address, was 5183 Wellington Street. However in looking up Google 'streetview' maps, there is no such address, perhaps it was swalloed up ny that new building on the corner.
here is a link to google map http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=5183+Rue+Wellington,+Verdun,+Communaut%C3%A9-Urbaine-de-Montr%C3%A9al,+Qu%C3%A9bec+H4H+1N1&sll=49.891235,-97.15369&sspn=16.555077,36.650391&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FZKUtQIdz3Gd-w&split=0&hq=&hnear=5183+Rue+Wellington,+Verdun,+Communaut%C3%A9-Urbaine-de-Montr%C3%A9al,+Qu%C3%A9bec+H4H+1N1&ll=45.453568,-73.56647&spn=0,0.017896&z=15&layer=c&cbll=45.454524,-73.567775&panoid=TJTvxZnRBbpjKjiYcd6Adw&cbp=12,196.73,,0,5 Maybe a search of an old lovell's Directory can pinpoint Wolfe Cycle around 1940?
