40 years ago on July 20th 1969-Where Were You

Today july 15th ,2009, marks the 40th anniversary Nasa's attempt to reach the Moon,

and a few short days later on July 20th, Neil Armstrong ,made that one small step for man & one Giant leap for mankind:

Do you Remember where you happen to be ?   I was in Long Sioux ,Ontario camping & listening attenively to the broadcast as the capsule " Eagle " was getting ready to land.

and hearing Armstong's voice claiming "Houston,Tranquility Base Here--the Eagle has Landed"

the world had changed:           Amazing stuff, & today the Final space flight launch of the Space Shuttle 'Endeavour' balsted off finally after a month and a half of delays.

So my question to you all, is Do you recall where you were when Man first landed on the Moon ?                                                            HF&RV

  5. We were at my parents cottage in Rawdon and just like everyone else, watching TV in amazement!
Do you sometimes wonder if it really happened? Interesting that we haven't bothered to make more return trips all these years...there was a movie about that hoax theory, but I forget the name of it....Diane

  6. Sandy I retract my apology, it started out saying "Houston,-Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed" Were you trying to get me in-trouble with the Man upstairs.....hahahaha the man in the moon I mean
On July 20, 1969, at 4:17:43 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (20:17:43 Greenwich Mean Time), Neil A. Armstrong (b. 1930) and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. (b. 1930) landed the lunar module Eagle on the moon's Sea of Tranquility, and Armstrong radioed: "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed." Several hours later, when Armstrong descended the lunar module ladder and made the small jump between the Eagle and the lunar surface, he announced: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." The article "a" was missing in the live voice transmission, and was later inserted in the record to amend the message to "one small step for a man."
