All I originally come from the Point, I spent a lot of time in Verdun with my cousins the Meehans, going to the Nat, the Verdun Auditorium, shopping along Wellington with my Mom and Nan at Christmas (my Mom loved the milk shakes from Woolworths) - buying the different "pieces" of choco bars at that candy store and the fabulous cake store (Moira's or something like that) on the one of the corners before you got to Church. Went to Verdun High and used to hang around at that little restaurant down the street from the school run by these little french sisters - always had the french fries with gravy. Now that I am in Ottawa, I have this site and the Point site to "reminisce" on. Superb. Sherry (Duplessis) Hummell

Ps: This site is monitored but not actively posting on a regular basis. Mostly these are stories & some photos saved from a defunct site known as Verdun Connections which was on MSN Groups initially then on a social network called Multiply.
Sherry I know exactly how you feel. The place of your childhood stays with you forever. I live in Los Angeles now but my heart is still in Crawford Park and Verdun. I remember roller skating to the Nat early in the morning when kids got in free. I also remember going to hockey games at the Verdun Auditorium with my dad. He worked for Canadair and we rooted for their team. The french fries from the shop on the corner of Arygyle and Bannantyne were to die for- there is nothing like a Montreal french fry. I had an Edwin Meehan in my class in high school - is he one of your cousins??? Love the Verdun Connections! Mirja
