  1. Hi Carole,   I lived at 1045 Valiquette up until 1962 then moved to 920 Moffat. My name is Gary Mace and I live in Saanich. There are a few of us living here on the Island. We could have our own Verdun Reunion, seems there are enough of us. I have been out here coming up 10 years. Good to make your aquaintance. One name I remember from Monteith was Teddy Mainprize.   Merry Christmas,   Gary Saanich, BC

  7. Wow!  We lived at 1089 Valiquette....somewhere between 1953 and 1958, I think. When were you there??? Judy in NB

  8. Hi Carole
I lived on Monteith from 1951 till 1969.
Yep, the "only" way to spell Carole is with an "e".
Considering my maiden name was Smith, my parents did me a favor. There
were always a couple of Carol's in each class that I was in.
    Take care,
Carole ---- from "snowy" Vancouver Island----- Something definitely wrong
    with this weather!!!!

Did you know any of the Downey's?
I live on Vancouver Island, B.C. and the weather here as been terrible.
Even T.O. is having better weather than us. Two days ago we had a snow
    storm---YIKES.
Enjoy your nice weather, send us some warmth and sunshine--- lol

  14. Gary,   Do you remember Nancy Gair....I think she lived at 1002 Valiquette.  She was in my class at high school, and later started to work at Bell where I worked.   p.s.  I'm really not naughty, it's Sandy that's naughty!

  17. Linda,   Yes I remember the Gair girls, Nancy and Peggy. Peggy hung out with my sister Karen. Nancy is still in Lasalle and Peggy is somewhere in Ontario.   I being a decadent Protestant realize that any girls who attended VCHS and taught by the Good Sisters could never ever be NAUGHTY!!!!! LOL   Gary ("The Decadent")

    ReplyDelete
  18. Gary   Are you implying that us Protestant girls, who attended VHS, were naughty and the Catholic girls weren't?   Does the same rule follow for the guys?  I know the Catholic guys were very,  very good kissers!   As Lucy says......"Got some splainin' to do".   Of course, I jest

  19. Re the above message.....   of course it was Ricky who wanted Lucy to do some splainin'.

  20. Sandy--Linda---Diane.  I don't know how true this is..BUT....have heard many times, from reliable sources, since I was knee high to a grasshopper....That Catholic girls, because the nuns were so strict, that once they got away from the nuns, they became wild and naughty... Maybe even very naughty...That is okay by me, and I respect that!!!!!! You know the old saying..."Will you respect me in the morning...blah, blah, blah..... Winston

  25. Arbutus - thanks so much for going through the trouble of finding'Valiquette' addresses and also looking up other 'Grayburns' in Verdun.....very kind of you.  A few names stuck out: 1087-Warren Snair; 1091-Shirley Lidstone; 1105-'Auntie' Lillian Woods(everybody was 'auntie'); 1107-Milligan, 'Auntie' Lynn, Danny, Heather who is my dearest friend even today; 1111-Ginette Lalonde; 1115-Michelle Giroux; 1127-I remember the St-Onge family living there.  One Halloween when I was about 11-12 yrs old and 'developing' into a 'young woman' a bit prematurely, I went out for "Charity please" as a pirate. When I got to the St Onge house, the big brother(I can't remember his name) answered the door and said (quote) "It's the first time I've ever seen a pirate with tits" (oops! did I say that???).  Needless to say, that was the end of my Trick or Treat days....lol.  Was it only in Montreal that we said "Charity please"?  Anywhere else that I've lived, they always say "Trick or Treat." And Arbutus, thanks also for bringing up my uncles Gibby and Bill....take care.

  26. Hi Sandy,   Carole with an (e) here. I would have graduated in 76 from VHS, but we moved to Ontario in 74.  I don't recognize any of your names, but it's still nice know you now!  Carolyn, did you have a brother named Bruce?  My brother Pete,(deceased) once palled around with a  Bruce Bennett. Pete was 4 yrs older than I am, I just turned 48.   Have a great day. Carole, aka Claroleca.

  32. Gary,   What you guys don't realize, is that no matter Protestant/Catholic/Whatever, us girls taught you guys everything ~and what a job it was!  And ...ummm ....errrrr ....somebody had to do it.      You guys were good learners, too.   Cheers.

    ReplyDelete

  33. Linda. You are absolutly right. We guys knew nothing about girls. Everything we read was something about girls not being the least bit interested in sex. That you basically had to prime the pump, so to speak. Litlle did we know....and to this day we are still learning. Of course if some girl just happen to be interested in the forbidden fruits, she was not considered nice. But I for one, did not think that way. I was a very private person, and told no one or "bragged" in any way about any of my encounters. Even if someone asked about some girl, I would not talk about it!!!!! It was no ones business and telling stories was not my thing. Even to this day, I am very private about things like that. AND no matter what, I still have a tremendous amount of respect for women. And don't agree with some of the thoughts that it is okay fro the guys to do it, and not the girls. But as you
know, guys are a bunch of talkers (that is putting it very mildly), when it comes to their conquests. Winston Allison

  35. What a small world . I see you have been talking to my sister Newfydog9 about the Grayburns in Verdun. We moved from valiquette in 1956 when I was 10 to Toronto for 2 years and then we moved back to Montreal.  Just in case you don't remember me , you helped me find our cousin Linda Grenier and the rest of the family. Thanks for your help. Hope you have a great 2007. Harriett

Hi Gary - Do you have any more info on 'Gary Grayburn"?  His age?  Where he lived?  Did he have siblings?  Anything at all?  As a 'Grayburn' myself, the only other 'males' that I can think of would have been Bill, Harry, Gibby, Alex.  Since it is such an uncommon family name, I'm really curious to know more about this 'Gary' person.  Thanks. judy(grayburn) in NB
