Elmhurst Cows
Can someone please describe to me what these cows were? I don't remember them myself but I am still trying to find proof of their existance (photos).
Well, I remember them....well....I think I remember them. Naaaa, I really, really do remember them. It was a big billboard, outside Elmhurst dairy on Upper Lachine Road. I believe there were 2 cow's heads sticking out (3-D fashion) from the billboard. They really seemed gigantic (of course I was very small). Apparently from what I gather, I wrote to someone (can't remember who....oldtimer's disease) and they said they were taken down during a renovation, and nobody remembers where they were located to. Sometimes I think they were just a figment of my imagination, but others seem to remember them also. Cheers.
Linda, this is exactly how I remember them also. A family friend used to live right across the street from Elmhurst and I remember being fascinated by these huge cow heads every time we visited her...............this was over forty years ago, so I can not provide any extra details to your descpription....................................m.p.u.
Does anyone remember Elsie the Borden's Cow. Elsie was a brown and white cow (Jersey) Jersey milk was rich and creamy. Most cows today are black and white, (Holstein) because they give more milk. Ed
Ed, I remember being taken down town to see Elsie The Cow. She was in a building on the corner of University & Dorchester I believe. There was a big long line, finally got to see Elsie. The line moved past Elsie and we were given a bag of goodies from Bordens. I remember being thrilled but I can't remember what they gave us. Target Stores sells Borden's Butter and there is a picture of Elsie on the package. My wife tells me I have to buy cabot's Butter, so I do. Elsie The Cow rested in peace in Plainsboro, New Jersey until 1998 (this is no bull). Then her remains were exhumed to make way for a housing development. Now residents claim to be haunted by mysterious cow bell sounds. Good for Elsie.
nobody remembers?
