Mike Garacciolo

You gotta check out this guy's videos. Some foul language but
definitely a philosopher. I personally like the one of Johnny Cash.

  2. Steve did you check out 'Bat Day 5/5/2004'. I think this is the
funniest one but they're all good.

  3. Steve,
Mike Garacciolo was on Comedy Central last friday. I missed it
unfortunately. I wish him success, his videos have been passed around
since 2003. He really is a character at 6'4" and 400+ pounds. He talks
tough but I have the impression he's got a huge heart as well.

There is new video on his site about Thanksgiving. I like the Bat day
and Johnny Cash video the best. I think his old neighbourhood in
Brooklyn was very similar to the streets my dad and his 6 brothers and
sisters grew up on in Victoria Town (Goose Village) Irish, Italian,
Ukrainian immigrants. he took me there when I was about ten years old
to show me how good I had it. No doubt!

Could not stand the smells -- slaughter houses, stock yards, coal yards
and the railroad. I think there were 6 streets all together situated
under the Victoria Bridge. I believe the Costco store is close to Goose
Village now, but I could be wrong, so many changes for the good. In
July I parked my car there to photograph the stone memorial for the
6.000 Irish immigrants who died of ship fever. Tough times indeed. God
bless your soul grandmother Foy and thank God my father moved to good
old Verdun when he married my mom.

Here's a trivia question for the group:
Why was that particular neighbourhood nicknamed Goose Village?

"If you wish in this world to advance,
    your merits you're bound to enhance;
you must stir it and stump it,
    and blow your own trumpet,
Or trust me, you haven't a chance."
    ... Gilbert and Sullivan.

  4. "Goose Village"wasn't that that all the homes had at least one goose in a cage in front of their home. The more geese you had the better off you were. Steve

  5. You may be right Steve, as the name may go back to the 16 or 1700s.
