Where would you find the best chesnuts for chesnut fighting?
(hint: avoid the security patrols or you would be commited :) )

  2. Flydog - I am assuming you are hinting that the Douggie was the best place for Chestnuts.  I didnt grow up in Verdun but my aunt's back yard on Leclair shared a common fence with the Douglas then it was called Verdun Protestant Hospital if I am not mistaken. Strangely enough the best chestnuts around where I lived (WestEnd) happened to be near where 2 very loopy old sisters lived - they would chase the kids and we were terrified of them.  They both wore hats and coats from the 30's and this was 1960. I tried to explain what we did with the chestnuts to my husband who comes from England - there true to the song Chestnuts roasting by an open fire - they ate them.

  4. I worked at the Douglas in the
Dietary Department from 1966 to 1972.
All the buildings were connected by a
tunnel. The tunnel even went up to the
Childrens part of the hospital which
    the entranc was on Champlain.
