  42. Hi Brenda - I remember you well.  Great to know you're alive and well. I knew you when you were still in Crawford Park.  I was living on Richard Avenue in those days.  Moved to St. Catherine Street in Westmount, opposite the Westmount Armoury when I started working for Northeast Airlines (later Delta).  In (?) '72-73, the FLQ had bombed a garbage can behind the armoury, blowing off the night watchman's arm.  As I used to walk my dog down that alley, and she visited that particular garbage can on a regular basis, suddenly the political situation was front and centre for me.  After all, a bomb doesn't know or care what your political views are.  Plus I found out that Vancouver did not have snow in the winter.  Huge incentives.  Been here ever since.   Carol Salmela

  49.   Hi Everyone I moved from Verdun in 1973 to LaSalle and have been there ever since!  They say the apple never falls far from the tree, but I guess only some of that is true as so many of you are so far away.  Stubborn Irish head I have I refused to get pushed out and so I learned to speak French and opened a wedding business.  I recently found Phillip Paik who is now a doctor and living in Korea after going to university at McGill and LA.  His sister Guemma Paik (now called Hannah) is living in LA.  He is looking for old friends from Verdun High.  If anyone is interested please email me and I will forward his coordinates.  He is not a doctor for hair transplants.  Who knows, we might be needing him if some of us don't already!  lol      Heather Ryan

  50. Heather, In your case, you have chosen to adapt to a changing society. These changes are happening worldwide with easy transportation, economic considerations and many other factors. One only has to look to Los Angelos where I believe half the population now speaks spanish due to the Mexican immigrants. The same situation exhists in Florida. The world is changing fast. Guy

  55. This one gets a bit complicated for me. Now in Syracuse, NY and Dublin, Ireland, and commute back and forth. Have also just started building a home in Savannah, Georgia that will become my permanent home some day in the near future. Like so many others from Verdun, ended up in the Toronto area in the mid-late 70's and lived there until moving to Syracuse, in 1997. Luckily, Syracuse is only 3 1/2 hours from both Toronto and Montreal, so get back to both places often to see old friends, and gratuitous visits to Woodlands, Lafleurs, Crescent Street, etc.

  76. Hi Everyone,   Really intereting to see how far and wide we Verduners have travelled. We sure get around!   I lived at 675 Moffat from 1944 to 1961. Have 1 daughter, am retired and enjoying life with my spouse (not a Verdunite) north of Kingston for over 30 years. How time flies.   I was reading the comments about Classmates.com and have to agree that it's a crummy site. It was reassuring to learn that others see names they don't recognize. I thought that I was experiencing more than a Sr.'s Moment but a Sr's Blackout. It's nice to know I'm not as far gone as I suspected.   Hello to anyone who remembers me. I too really enjoy this site. It brings back so many fond and very special memories. Thanks to all who take the time to contribute.   Best wishes, Dale Barwick
