Can anyone tell me what the "Cote" in Cote St. Paul and Cote St. Luc means?

Hello MaggieMck,....the word 'Cote' actually means ,......'Hill' ......as in 'Cote' de Neige,.etc etc ,.....I am not sure how Cote St Paul qualify's ,...but my guess ,is that many years ago,and following it's neighbourhood borders,.that perhaps it lead up to the Hill that became Upper Lachine ,........and of course further NE Mt Royal................. Just my guess ......................... HF&RV
