| hi all, i just received news today that grant lawton who did live on rolland ave for many years passed away a month ago, no other details yet. he was married to joan woffenden from woodland ave.an all round great ,classy guy, grant was liked by all who met him, he took me to my high school grad dance, an affair to remember with a gentleman from verdun, RIP GRANT. bill his dad was albert lawton, cousin gary lawton from 6th avenue and brother kieth. my parents knew the family well. carolyn
ReplyDeleteI had neighbours on 2nd Avenue during the 40 & 50s named Lawton. There were three brothers and two sisters. John, Eric, Tom, Margaret, Shirley. John was the oldest and worked for the CNR. In 1950 I guess John was 20 years old. They all married and had lots of children. Tom the youngest, would have been about 9.

Giving up on searching for the Lawton family members I knew. It's like finding a needle in a hay stack. It's strange but I lived on 2nd Avenue from 1941 to 1958 and in that time only knew to say hi to, maybe 25 people. There were hundreds of individuals on just my block alone, so to find someone you knew really well is a turkey shoot at best. There are some great posts on V.C. which bring back dusty old memories which I treasure Like the Nat). Keep up the wonderful participations.

Shirley and Tommy are the only surviving siblings. But their are a lot of children and grandchildren. Some are still in Montreal others are mostly in Ontario.
