During my preteen years, 1940s, there were very few cars on 2nd Ave. There might have been maybe 4 cars parked between Wellington and Verdun, and very little traffic. Safe street for kids to slap shot a raggedy tennis ball. My family never owned a car btw, and obviously most no one else did either. We walked everywhere, up hill both ways and we liked it (grumpy old man SNL).
Bill (Second Avenue)biking2006 MSNhttp://msn-biking2006.multiply.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6464100720604662734.post-16530225670707307442008-11-13T15:42:00.000-08:002008-11-13T15:42:00.000-08:00Those mattress's don't take up much room w...Those mattress's don't take up much room when you roll them like that..... Yikes,........ I thought it was Johnny Grant -- the 'Mayor of Hollywood'. Who ever it was he had a weekly show where he found unusual places overlooked by the citizens of LA. These long forgotten buildings, bridges, canals, partially buried street car tracks etc., had really interesting and historical significance.
I think Montreal has much more historical stories to tell and has the talent and the know how to produce such a TV show. I bet that building on Troy Avenue could tell a fantastic story. Who had it constructed and why this unusual design? There might be a long forgotten fantastic story there. Second Avenue alone had it's share of sagas.
Just a thought.
Bill
Bill (Second Avenue)biking2006 MSNhttp://msn-biking2006.multiply.comnoreply@blogger.com
