Update to the Seattle Barnes & Noble Authours Get Together

Hey great news update ,  Thelma sent me a photo of her signing a book at the Barnes & Noble in Seattle Washington Store at a recent get together of 6 different writers,. who graciously signed books & answered questions ,.....hopefully helping aspiring writers to continue their efforts despite  the seemingly insurmountable odds against their very efforts to "just write a book that we may enjoy"

............Thanks Thelma & all of you writers out there who just want to get a message across......
........We Appreciate all your efforts & we are particularly proud of the fact that you are one of the many talents that seem to keep surfacing & making us aware of all the smart people we grew up with in Verdun / Montreal.............Thank You .
                                           ...........Cheers ! LesF

Eschewing tried-and-true space opera and epic fantasy, these stories explore new mysteries and ideas.
Turn the page…open your eyes...and look into the future
They unleash the power of dreams and unlock the secrets of the universe.
They bend time, twist perception, and put a new spin on the laws of physics.
They show us who we are, what we may become, and how far we can go.
They are the Writers of the Future.
Experience their vision.
“Keep the Writers of the Future going. It’s what keeps sci-fi alive.”-ORSON SCOTT CARD

Bill Hillmann, "The Old Neighborhood <http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-old-neighborhood-bill-hillmann/1116852126?ean=9781940430003>" - The Old Neighborhood is the story of teenager Joe Walsh, the youngest in a large, mixed-race family living in Chicago. After Joe witnesses his older brother commit a gangland murder, his friends and family drag him down into a pit of violence that reaches a bloody impasse when his elder sister begins dating a rival gang member. The Old Neighborhood is both a brutal tale of growing up tough in a mean city, and a beautiful harkening to the heartbreak of youth.
“By writing about the streets and the people he knows by heart, Hillman shows the contrary and complex forces at work in this city.” - Dmitry Samarov, Chicago Tribune

Thelma Fayle, "Ted Grant: Sixty Years of Legendary Photojournalism <http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/ted-grant-thelma-fayle/1115263987?ean=9781927527344>" - Ted Grant has made a career out of being in the right place at the right time, catching some of the world’s most famous subjects in moments of unaffected humanity. His photographs have been featured worldwide and he has lectured countless students at Leica International Seminars, Yale Medical School, and Carleton University. Although he is best known for his candid shots of Ronald Reagan, Jackie Kennedy, Margaret Thatcher, and Pierre Trudeau, Grant’s portfolio covers Olympic Games, National Film Board of Canada assignments, and medical photography. His lifework of over 300,000 photographs is housed in Canada's national archives. Ted Grant: Sixty Years of Legendary Photojournalism tells a nuanced story of Cold War politics, Olympic scandals, urban poverty, grassroots industry, nuclear disasters, and medical breakthroughs. As varied as these images are, Ted’s ability to cut through the façades of public figures and coax ordinary citizens into the limelight is evident in each and every one.

John B. McIntyre, "Choices Made, Prices Paid <http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/choices-made-prices-paid-john-mcintyre/1119563836?ean=2940149612642>" - Just imagine...You’re rejected whenever you apply for a job. You’re turned away every time you try to find a place to live. You’re shunned by potential friends…all because of choices you made in your past. The author of this heart-pounding true story knows what that’s like. Even though he can’t justify the endless stream of bad choices he made from the age of 12 well into adulthood-choices that ultimately landed him in prison-he is determined now to make the slow and steady journey back into society. Drug addiction, reckless behavior, and rule-breaking are all a thing of the past but this story will pull the reader along through every bad situation-including combat-related PTSD-every thoughtless action over many years until the final wake-up call: incarceration. John B. McIntyre surely is not alone. There are many others-men and women-facing the same struggles to start a new life. Perhaps his story can be an inspirationto them, and he believes he really can help the teen or young adult heading down the same path of self-destruction.

Jenny Lynn Jones, "All Roads Lead to Jerusalem <http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/all-roads-lead-to-jerusalem-jenny-lynn-jones/1119295923?ean=9780991069958>" - When Jenny Jones and her three children move from their Washington home to that of Jenny's in-laws in the West Bank, the village of Safaseems like a haven. Sheltered from much of the area's troubles, Jenny considers the village to be the ideal place for her children to explore a part of their identity they deserved to know more about. In spite of its pastoral charm,Safais far more complex than Jenny had imagined. On top of dealing with inter-tribal battles, military round-ups, and nighttime raids, Jenny has to deal with her in-laws and day-to-day difficulties caused by her less than eloquent Arabic and frequent cultural misunderstandings. But the Holy Land is famous for its miracles after all-and after coming across a National Geographic article one day bemoaning the jealously guarded off-limits archaeological chambers on Jerusalem's famous Temple Mount, Jenny decides to make a sudden, life-changing decision to find a way in herself-despite virtually impossible odds-along the way discovering a kind of self-acceptance and belonging that she never imagined possible. All Roads Lead to Jerusalem depicts a woman's struggle to find a sense of inner peace after realizing that neither the restrictive Islamic culture she has chosen, nor the increasingly hostile North American society she was born into, seem to offer the acceptance she yearns for.

Jayant Swamy, "Colours in the Spectrum <http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/colours-in-the-spectrum-jayant-swamy/1116779503?ean=9789382473633>" - An epic tale of friendship and love, trust and betrayal, hope and despair, Colours in the Spectrum traces the emotional trajectory of Karan Khanna from a bright teenager with a promising future to an embittered soul-searcher eventually finding liberation through meandering self-realization. It is likely to appeal to those who liked Khaled Hosseini's Kite Runner or Jhumpa Lahiri's Namesake. The backdrop is Bangalore, the garden city of the seventies, transformed into the silicon city during the nineties.
