Canadians Elect First Majority in Many Years

.....................................Majority Govt'  for Harper (could be scary) ,,,,,,,,,,,but how about Gilles Duceppe, they may not even have party status (at least as I write this (they don't)

Ignatieff has to get outta Dodge,he's done,.....and anyone with half a brain knew he was done when they made him leader,........looks like they will be starting over.......& it's about time.

Jack Layton & his party have grown to Official opposition.............

I guess that depends on who(if anyone) & why anyone was blaming Quebec for anything......
the Bloc was nothing more than disgruntled ex-liberal voters & Conservative voters & of course a smattering of flat out separatists who got fed up with business as usual in Ottawa, and then formed the balance of power for 20 years,
now Quebec has voted over 40% in favour of change .....which I suspect is long overdue,& still possibly more change again is overdue. However we will soon see if this majority conservative govt' are as bad as every majority conservative Govt' we've had since at least the 50's from Dief (the Avro Killer) to the Brian Mulrooney disgraced Govt.that collapsed to only 2 seats ,when Canadians finally tired of his thievery . Will Harper do some good things for all Canadians & not follow the path of his predecessors ? only time will tell.....
It definetly is time for the Liberals to rid their party of old school retreads & change with the times .....Usually minority governments are good for people since it forces compromise, whereas majority requires no reason to get along with all parties & an air of self importance soon takes over. We have 4 years to go to find out if Harper & his crew, get bounced,or does he do some good.........(and not just line their own pockets)
In anycase it should be interesting ,to say the least.....and I am almost positive this new batch will provide us all with new material to bash them................hahahahaha Cheers !! HF&RV

Be interesting to see how many of those that voted for Harper would still vote for him in 2 years.
A combination of cutting and spending is going to change this country and you can bet that only the very wealthy and the extreme born agains are gonna like it.

There will be a big percentage of voters 2nd guessing their choice for sure. I believe it was more of 'hold your nose & cast the ballot' this time around,,as I said earlier...only time will tell.My guess is Harper will now push thorugh a lot of things that voters forgot he would do,& that may be scary.....hopefully for a change it would be nice to see, things done for the masses, sadly I think he may consider them just part of the 'great unwashed' as my oldman used to say.......
Btw: where's the soap...........hahahahaha and be careful with the PC's not to drop it....hahahaa

We are rewarding people who have been caught cheating and lying - our standards have lowered and it does not bode well, international reputation already in tatters lol. But life should be interesting back here in La Grand Orange (Quebec) heh heh.

Life in Quebec is anything but boring relative to politics.religion & hockey.....Hmmm maybe 'anything' that requires an opinion......asked for or not........hahahahaha.
That's where perhaps young minds entering the game may be very interesting...some of them were not allowed to stay up late enough to catch the election results just a few years ago..lol HF&RV

Yea, don't forget investigating all that corruption LOL

Was that the Orange Julep? Does anyone have a photo of the old Stagecoach Restaurant near Blue Bonnets Racetrack, DiLallo's in Ville Emard, Jimmy Vatsis family restaurant on Wellington Street,
Leith's Bakery, Senkis shop on 3rd Ave etc etc etc.....Love to see some of those old memories pop up on Verdun Connections! Have a good look in those old shoe boxes storing the dozens of vintage photographs you haven't looked at for years!...Diane

Yes it is the Orange Julep,.and as for the StageCoach I have been rying to find a shot of that place for years, obviously no success as of yet.A friend of mine used to play the music in there,it was a great little club. It was also called La Dillegence (but more widely known by it's english name 'the Stagecoach'. I will certainly post a photo when I come across one, As for DiLallo's ,I know I did post photos years ago,of the Ville Emard spot,do you remember that the original DiLallo's was also a Taxi dispatch ,people would phone the restaurant, order a taxi,& then they would open a little serving window on the side of the building & yell to the cab driver where the pickup was......
