First Presbytarian Church

William,

Here are photos of 2 of the Presbytarian churches that exhisted in Verdun. Your grandmother probably attended one of these churches when she lived in Verdun in the 20s. One of the churches was at 503 - 5th ave. and another at the corner of Church and Ross streets. I have also included a map of Verdun. The address of 103 - third ave. where your grandmother lived in the 20s is between Wellington and LaSalle Blvd, on the east side (right).

I will be going to Verdun in a couple of weeks and can take a photo of that address and post it here if you wish.

Guy. I was christened at that church. Also attended movies there in the basement. Also was an usher when I got a little older. When they built the new church beside the old one, they made a gym in the old place of worship. Wonderful memories of those days. I didn't know about the fire. Thanks for the info.

Great slide show Guy but could you slow it down a bit.....I couldn't read the school names and look at the pictures. A little fast.

Sorry, we cannot control the speed of the slideshow. However, these photos are in my album no. 7 that you can view on my site on this site:

On the Contrary ,You can control several things on the Slide Show (including the Speed) If you look at the bottom control board immediaetely below & part of the Slide Show Viewer, you will see from left to right,A Pause Button, then two Directional Arrows (back or forward) then the Multiply Logo in the center,Then a Slide Bar Control with a (-) minus sign ---------------over to a (+) plus sign (slide the ball in the center of the bar from one side to the other), That is your Speed Control, then in the far Right Corner is a little square allowing you to increase the viewing area to Full Screen.
Cheers !! HF&RV
or as Guy suggests you can go directly to his Photo Album # 7 or click on this direct link

It is unbelievable all the information that is available on this sight. I highly recommend that members join the PREMIUM option wich is extra. I paid $19.95 last year wich is automatically renewable each year. In my case it becomes effective the 3rd of march. I think it is a reasonable amount to pay to assure us that the site will last for years to come. This is just my opinion.

Hi, This pertains to the comments about the church on 5th.... My Aunt Vic was the Church lady at that church. I believe she ran the place....placed the organ....planned bazaars....the variety shows, etc.
We used to watch movies on saturday with my cousins Bruce and Steven and got to sit up in the crying room. Great memories.
