MONTREAL- Parents toting their well-bundled children in snowsuits are lining Ste. Catherine St. this morning, waiting for the arrival of Saint Nick.

Organizers say they expect around 300,000 Montrealers will turn up for the 60th edition of the Santa Claus parade, which runs from Fort St. to Phillips Square starting at 11 a.m.

The parade features 1,000 characters, 20 floats, bands, singing and dancing.

As a kid, it was the highlight of my childhood. Forget about being poor and not having anything....this was a dream to end all dreams Watch the parade. Go into Eaton's. See Santa. Ride the train. Get a free toy. What a life. The memories linger on and on. Our biggest thing was a huge nylon stocking filles with candy and fruit and a little very inexpensive toy. My greatest toy found in one of those stockings was a tiny cigar that looked like it was already lit up. When I would bite on the end of it, the ash end would light up. What a silly thng???? But to this day it still brings tears to my eyes and emotions that simplier times were the best times.
