Verdun Beach's & Waterfront

Here is a photo that 'jumper01' found on the internet & thought we would like to see,
It's from a website that we've posted photos from before, called  acanadianfamily, they document their families history, and some of that history had them living in Verdun for a time,.......However I had not  seen this shot before now. It was accompanied with some sort of article about it in the Gazette a little while ago, which oddly enough I missed as well.

It is an old postcard of a beach in Verdun, It is difficult to pinpoint just where this was located,I wonder if this is from the area called Muscle Beach ,which was closer to the old dam. Maybe Guy has some ideas or info for us on this ..............
Thanks Again to Robert (jumper01) for finding this old shot. --HF&RV--

Here are a few more Verdun Waterfront shots to spark out memory.

"if any of you have some others, you old family shots along the boardwalk or simply the boatclubs etc etc , it would be great if you could share them here.." -Cheers !! HF&RV-

This is the first time I see that photo but it resembles the one above from my Album no. 5 but with a view of the Wharf/Club house of the Verdun 500 Social & Swimming Club 1925. I suggest that you consult my album to view other photos of the same area. This area was situated at the foot of second avenue just passed the Leblanc wharf wich was at the foot of 1st avenue, as a matter of fact, you can see the Leblanc wharf in the background. My guess is the photo dates from the 20s or 30s. You can clearly see the Nun's island in the background. The first swimming area in Verdun dates back to the beginning of the 1900s and was situated at the foot of Church avenue. I am surprised that there was swimming at the foot of 2nd avenue as there was a deep channel not far from the shore, I know as a friend of mine almost drowned there in the 40s.
The photo of the group of tennis players showing the pav is another interesting photo wich I will include in my album No. 15 on the Pav. I am now starting to have an interesting collection of photos on the PAV wich gives us a view from the river, Woodland park and from LaSalle boulevard.

Yes the background certainly is the same,.so I guess this postcard is from a time before that wooden clubhouse wharf was built ? I know these shots are all from the virtuelle musee site, so i wonder if they have others stored away in box's from all the different museums they have access to. It would be nice to get a hold of an old find like that...... -Cheers !! -HF&RV-
