Montreal promotional films 40's & 50's

Montreal made many films during the 40's & 50 to promote the city,...as well as having made films for kids to ask them to play in parks & not in the streets & lanes, In all the films there are some great shots of Montreal , the Mountain, the streets,.etc etc

"See First Comment Section for First Video"

This is the 'embed code' mumbo jumbo, but i will also post this first film of many in the comment boxs....I hope you get a kick out of them, some are primarily in French, some English & some just with musical backgrounds ( some nut with a flute,in a few of them, but hey those were the days..& their soundtracks...... )               HF&RV

Activity's provided for us all, by the parks departments,... most of these kids in these films would be around the ages of most of us (give or take) However I think we can all relate.......
Cheers ,HF&RV

This film is quite short, but shows the building of several of the Montreal area Public Baths such as Hogan's Bath in the Point, and others.............

Just thought I would mention,(and I'm assuming that you all know the controls at the bottom of the youtube tv screen: but from right to left.
1: start/pause 2: the placement of the spot in the film you want to go to,(just slide that ball)
3: Volume/Mute (put your cursor over the speaker & then the volume slide appears.
4: the 4 arrows button which allows Full Screen feature
5: on the very far right side ,you see an arrow menu facing upwards, click on it, or move your cursor over it,then click on it,and it will make the viewing picture smaller but it will then show you along the bottom a bunch of little tv pictures, which are obviously other films you can select to watch...
You all probably knew that, but sometimes we forget to see the forest for the trees.... HF&RV

well for me the mumbo jumbo doesn't work neither do your postings maybe it's because I don't have the premium package maybe if you gave the youtube name I could go there.

jumper01: even if you are not signed in, you can read & play each film, perhaps your doing something wrong ? I have had emails from some who are not even members of Verdun Connections ,and they told me they loved the films,so something must be amiss if you cannot access these clips,.....Keep us informed & we will do what we can to help you,if we can.......HF&RV

lesf I can go to the video sessions and view them I can see embedded jpg but I cannot see embedded video's why I don't know? As for doing something wrong I've done nothing.

No I meant doing something wrong with viewing the video, but I'm sure you know what your doing...I guess I don't quite understand why your seeing the embed file,..or are you seeing the embed code only in the topic message, but your seeing them as actual video's in the messgaes ??
Because I will delete the embed mubo jumbo from the topic heading ....as it is redundant, seeing I've posted in the first comment/message window the first film anyway???????

Les, thanks for the videos and the memories. I'll view them one at a time and I just finished watching the Nat. Geo. Ice Storm 1998. We were visiting Montreal then and departed for Paris about two hours before the storm hit. Arrived in Paris to the big news of Montreal's Ice Storm!
Made it out by the skin of our teeth!....Diane
