Chalets for Rent in Verdun in 1929

Here is a page from a 1920s or 1930s magazine wich I found in our archives wich I thought might be fun to post. It does not have any date but ir was with a 1929 Guardian so it is no doubt from the same period. Notice the ad by the Verdun Tourist Camp for renting cabins at the corner of Wellington and River, with running water and lavatories in every cabins. Imagine chalets in Verdun !

I read with interest the article for the chalets for rent in Verdun. As an aside I looked at the advertisements beside the article and these brought memories of my time in Verdun because we lived over the fish store when we lived at 5349 Verdun Ave. Further to this there was an ad for a butcher at 3610 Wellington and we lived at 3620 Wellington street. Thank you Guy, you certainly bring good memories back.

I believe at one time they were owned by a cop named Belec, who was also in charge of the Natatorium.
I hope my memory is correct on the name.

That's amazing! Dan, I can still "see" your mom standing outside calling "Danny Boy, come in for supper"! I was the chubby dark haired girl (now 65) who lived on the third floor, above David Wattie and the other kids were Billy Rodgers, Butchie Royston, Margaret Whitton, Bobby Mansfield etc etc etc. I seem to recall a fairly poor family that lived near you with a daughter called Evelyn. Really nice girl, but the family had it real tough in those days.....Diane
