Wintertime on Mount Royal

Some skating or toboganning ,some would ski,(but the tow rope up the slight grade took too long. You would take it on occassion just to save the walk,or the skating around Beaver Lake then a 'hot chocolate' in the Chalet, generally a trip up to Beaver LAke also came with  a walk (excursion) up to the Real Chalet the Lookout,& then a day at the Mountain was complete:

The Mountain was always a great escape from the city, for us kids,it was an adventure to be able to make our own way up to the Mountain,(either by bus) or at times a few of us kids would opt to make our own way up there by walking, from Verdun, then explore all the sides of the Mountain, all the seasons, but Winter was always 'cool' (pun intended)....from Beaver Lake we'd walk to the Lookout & then down those stairs & straight into downtown Montreal,.........The Mountain was definetly a fantastic Oasis..............
