Corner of LaSalle and Rielle

There is a lot of history at this intersection. The old photo dates back to the end of the 19th century and housed the Queen's Park Sporting Club wich was situated at the North East corner of LaSalle and Rielle. I took a photo saturday of that corner and the fire station is situated directly across the street. If we examine the old photo closely, we can see the wooden fence that no doubt encircled the park and at the extreme left, we can discern the velodrome stadium structure that housed the internation world championship bicycle races in 1899. The building also was temporarely used by  the Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs parish were the first parish mass was celebrated that same year. The old photo is from our archives (SHGV)
