A little closer walk with thee.....(insert lightning bolt)

Brother Andre has had a miracle attributed to him,so perhaps sometime in the next millenium or so (known as the RC fast track) ......old Brother Andre may become a Saint...............the first Quebec man to attain the title,  MONTREAL – Brother André moved closer to canonization on Saturday as Pope Benedict XVI attributed a miracle to the founder of St. Joseph’s Oratory.

Brother André, who was born in 1845 in St. Hyacinthe and died in Montreal in 1937, was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1982.

The pope on Saturday “acknowledged as scientifically inexplicable a healing due to the intercession of Brother André,” according to a news release.

“Brother André takes pride of place among the builders of our diocesan church,” said Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte, archbishop of Montreal.

For the Canonization of Blessed Brother Andre Bessette
Feast day - January 6

O Jesus, you wanted the devotion to your foster-father Saint Joseph to be made known through the efforts of Brother Andre, grant that the Church may glorify, at the earliest opportunity, this faithful friend of the poor, the sick and the afflicted.

Saint Joseph of Mount Royal, pray for us.

Blessed Brother Andre spent countless hours day and night adoring Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament, in addition to his daily duties and caring for the sick. It was through his tremendous devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament that Blessed Brother Andre was inspired to build a magnificent Shrine in honor of St. Joseph at Mount Royal in Montreal, Canada. To this day countless souls are brought to our Lord at this Shrine and through the intercession of St. Joseph and Blessed Brother Andre, many miracles of healing take place there.

....................well isn't that nice cannoized in 1982,& today(2009)he gets the equivalent of a gold star on the Vaticans refrigerator.....(couple more miracles & he's a shoe-in)

today's Gazette update upon hearing the news:
A miracle for brother André

The GazetteDecember 20, 2009 9:49 AM

Brother André's chances of being canonized received a boost yesterday in Rome. St. Joseph's Oratory, which Brother André founded, issued a statement saying "with joy filled hearts" its staff had learned that Pope Benedict XVI "has just acknowledged as scientifically inexplicable, a healing due to the intercession of Blessed Brother André." The details of the miracle are confidential for now, said Danielle Decelles of St. Joseph's Oratory. Brother André died in Montreal in 1937. He was declared Venerable in 1978 and beatified in 1982. One miracle must be approved for beatification and another one must be found for canonization, Decelles explained. "This important step has revitalized our expectations to see Brother André among the saints of the Catholic Church," Father Claude Grou, the rector of St. Joseph's Oratory, said in a statement.

I see that John Paul II and Pius XII jumped the line - Benedict moved up the two of them too - I read that in our paper down here this morning.

Les,
I only wanted to express my feelings that the text was long to read and I did not mean to reflect on the content. Sorry for the lack of explanation and the wrong choice of words.

Wow...that was a long read Les! Must admit I didn't get to the end of it. As for miracles, my mother-in-law "claims" a miracle from Brother Andre. Having difficulty getting pregnant the story goes that she knelt on each step and said the rosary and lo and behold she became pregnant! I suspect my mother-in-law was hallucinating or really really stretching the truth!
Australia is about to get its' first Saint in Mary MacKillop. As for Pius Xll.....big mistake! John Paul ll was a great guy, just wish he could have lasted longer.....Diane (married to Miracle Richard!)
