Danse Pavilion

Robin, a member of this site has made a major discovery. He has found a photo of the front full view of the pavilion just prior to its demoliton from the Guardian of January 14th 1970 with a backdrop view of the senior's manoir and wich is from our archives at the SHGV. I am adding this photo to my no. 15 album along with other new items.

A great find Guy, Thanks Robin too,..... I would like to find a (what I call frontal view of the Pav, which would be from the boardwalk side,we do have one , the one with a football team out front, but if we could find a shot of those wooden shutters open & serving boardwalk passers-by,with fries & salami sandwich's etc etc ,.tat would be great too..... I think it was Ron Larman who provided us with that team photo shot.......??? Again Guy a great find ,and your efforts to share them here are appreciated:

Les,
Maybe a photo from the boardwalk will turn up someday. I'm surprised you did not mention about the manoir being built at the extension of the land where there used to be water.

I think we covered that point in previous posts,as we (both you & I have posted photo's ) of when this building was built, and prior to that where the water was shown as being a lot closer....

Another research question. Where exactly, near which street, avenue, was the pavilion located? I can't remember it. I'm asking these questions including the one about the auditorium because I mention them in my novel in progress and want to be true to the facts. Thanks again.

And yes, Guy, merci pour ton recherche comme toujours.

Thanks Guy, the Pav was the nightly meeting place to hundreds of teenagers including me and my friends. Winters saw us retreat to Prince George Restaurant etc., packing into the booths and sipping on Cokes, sharing french fries, playing the music and generally annoying the owner! Fun carefree times and it all happened in wonderful Verdun...Diane

Seriouswriter,
I suggess you view my photo album no. 15 wich will give some information on the Pavilion. Robin, a member of this site has made some research on the subject and may be willing to help you. As far as the Auditorium is concerned, there is much information available on this subject, I have onbly 2 photos on it in my album no. 30 but we have much more in our archives at the SHGV. You may try Wikipedia also.
