LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD and not leave most of the work to Guy & Les! So far 156 VC Members have registered on Multiply and only a handful have made contact. We know it's difficult to adjust to a new site, but with a little patience from us all, we will succeed! Okay Guys, all Verdunites are known for their strong will and determination, so let's have a Burst of Energy from everyone after a long winter hibernation and just see how many of you can touch base with fellow members and keep Verdun alive in our hearts with shared memories.....Thanking you in advance...Diane from Down Under XXX

Don't worry about the world ending today....It's already tomorrow in Australia (unless you're in Australia----then start worrying) Looks like Autumn in the air "Down Under".

When Australians refer to us in North America...Do they say "Up Over?"

Hi Diane. We want to know....Maybe I have to much time on my hands....Then again, maybe I am just another wierd Verdunite...EH???

Hi Diane ,thanks for your enthusiasm,it's appreciated,.Oddly enough we get a lot of partcipation & support in the way of people reading the messages,.On the bottom of every thread or photo album,or added music or videos, they show the 'users' who have viewed that particular thread,.As you no doubt see at the bottom of this page,it usually appears only to the person who originates the post,.and there is also a 'see detailed viewing' option which will tell us when ,what time, how long ago, etc etc who looked at the post,.So we do know that there is a great deal of readers,
We haven't had as many members (numbers wise) make the move over to Multiply yet, but it took a long time for the other site to start to gain members too,.We went for a long time sitting at around the 100 - 150 members, and ,we also knew that we had a lot of duplicate & sometimes more, members with different ID's,.that was usually due to limited storage space on MSN , but oddly enough after changing to asking for email & requiring information by confirming people joining, the numbers started to rise weekly.A lot of people will be surfing one night ,'looking' specifically for Verdun or Montreal related info....usually out of Nostalgic thoughts,.& when they found Our site ,they would read many posts & look at the photo's ,.then we'd have them sign up.whether they continue to check in daily .weekly was up to them...We are happy to have people just read the site,Participaion is always good,& it serves to give all of us ideas on what to post,.....
Hopefully these particiapnts will grow along the way, We do appreciate the efforts made by you & other members,So if you have ideas on what you'd like to see or hear about, then ask away,.& we will do our best to find the related stories and / or photos....I think also that trying to have as many topic threads going is good,We like people to be able to 'tune in .as it were' and find Verdun or Montreal related things,so they know they've found a place with some sort of focal point...too many sites can advertise one thing & then when you start to look into it,they become more like just chats...
So keep helping us along Diane, and we will grow again, and as members become used to the site ,the ease of use will follow,... I preferred the layout better on MSN where answers (or comments) to each message appeared ,more simply & we could add photo's to our responses, this format here, makes us have to open up the 'comments' at the bottom of the post & I suspect they are easily missed,...but let's keep on trying ,.and we hope everyone can Have Fun & Remember Verdun

Hi Winston...Of course you're weird, you're from Third Ave...aren't we all weird? But ya know, we like it that way EH! When we live in Down Under we refer to North Americans as "Way Over There"! As opposed to "Up There" (Singapore, Indonesia etc). I refer to Canada as "The Great White North".
To be honest,at this age, half the time I don't know where I am! Geography lesson over....Diane

Thanks Diane. Yes 3rd Avenue. The home of the wierd. We sure were lucky to be from there. Have a great day...

C-coming out......it's still awfully c-c-cold. Read your posts this morning as I was listening to the school bus cancellations. Some of those old diesels don't like to get moving when the mercury dips below -30. The majority did get the kids to school and classes went on as usual. I sure miss the Montreal winters! Do you think maybe it has more to do with age than the actual weather?

Diane Roberts said...

Hi Maggie..Is it really colder in Saskatchewan in the winter than in Montreal? Brrrrr...I thought Montreal was cold enough. Visiting relatives three years ago at Christmas time, it managed to hit -40C one day and my Aussie daughter-in-law was in a state of shock! My son decided to take her sledding on Beaver Lake (his warmer memories as a child!) and I think she thought we were all a very weird lot living in those conditions. Richard and I wisely stayed in the warm car and watched them last about 15 minutes before terror set in! Ahh Montreal Winters...such a joy!....Diane

I'm agreeing with you on this BUT I'm still having trouble finding my way around..I.E

..in the right hand corner of your note it says"reply" ..what is the difference between that and the one at the bottom of all the "notes" that says "comment"

Do I '"comment" or "reply"
la's i seem to forget where I have left my"reply" (I;ve only done 2 )
Is there an easy way to find them

I hope this makes some kind of sense???
here goes...........

john allison said...

If you notice at the top of the page where it syou who sent the message. It says Multiply none reply. That means you cannot reply to that person. You need to use "add a comment" only. Otherwise the message will not go anywhere....

Thanks for answering buzzbuz's (Sharon) question. I wasn't quite sure how to answer as I'm still trying to work my way around this site. I sometimes lose things in Cyberspace...wherever that is!

Hi Diane...a lot of us are "getting on" in years and once we get used to something it's a pain in the butt to have to reajust...it's only a matter of time probably for a lot of the Verduners to get over to the new site but i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the older folks don't bother to.It's too bad, really, cos the old site was user friendly and comfortable! Why did everything have to change over anyway? I know that I myself was disappointed about the switch1

geez...I just had to re-sign up just minutes after i posted! this area is a bit confusing...

Well Spanky you got to keep trying

Diane Roberts said...

Yea Know Catherine, we'll all manage to get this right in the end EH! We're Verdunites and nothing, yes I said nothing's going to beat us! Isn't that the truth Pauline? lol Diane

Diane Roberts said...

Know the feeling Catherine...I seem to have been getting on in years for quite awhile! My grandsons keep me on my toes by always challenging me to learn new things...it works, most of the time. Please keep trying along with the rest of us! We'll get it in the end, after all, we're Verdunites and we're the best Eh! Isn't that right Pauline.

Hi Diane and Catherine
I just received an invitation from the Federal
Government to file for the old age pension.
A shot of reality but I’ll fool them, I’ll stay young and collect the money anyway as long as I can keep everything active I'll live long enough to spend it.

Diane Roberts said...

Good on ya Pauline! You're only old if you let yourself think about it too much. I was talking to a friend on the telephone in Brossard a few days ago..she's about 83, walks with a cane and multiple health problems, but the will to enjoy life and a laugh are as strong as ever! So enjoy the old age pension and use it to have some fun!....Diane
