LEONARD COHEN'S WORLD TOUR

I attended Leonard Cohen's Concert last night, set in a beautiful vineyard in the Swan Valley near Perth.  Lucky us managed to have seats in the first row!  It was a magical night and all 12,000 fans who attended were absolutely mesmerised by his presence.  He performed for 3 hours, giving us three encores to an adoring audience. Has anyone else seen him during his world tour which started 98 concerts back in Fredricton N.B.  Truly one of Canada's  legends and age (74) hasn't diminished his attraction and energy one little bit...hope for all of us!

Diane - that must have been great. I've never seen him live but listen to him all the time. So many great songs - some a little dark and/or offbeat. I'm humming Closing Time as I type this.

Have not seen this tour but did see Dylan (67) in November and it was incredible. I never dreamed these guys would still be touring, let alone doing killer shows, at that age. Of course, I didn't really expect to be around for it either, heh heh.

living at la cite in the 80's, i seen leonard cohen lots of times at the main deli enjoying the smoked meat platter
with the cott black cherry. a few years ago leonard cohen lost his savings, investments, trusting the wrong person, yes leonard went bust, that why he's out there rebuilding his wealth.

Leonard Cohen Donates Proceeds Feb 27, '09 7:52 AM
for everyone

Well here's a guy who was robbed & nearly bankrupted by one of his trusted former managers,.not that long ago, which made him have to ramp up touring again, more so than he'd done for years,....but when he did the Austrailian part of this present tour, he was good enough to Donate all the Proceeds from his Concert to the 'Fire Relief Victims or Fund' ......as the fires that have ravaged parts of Austrailia put many out of house & home, He gave back......................Looks good on ya Leonard......

What a truly heartwarming gesture...Leonard you are a true Legend Mate

LEONARD Cohen has dug deep to support the victims of the devastating bushfires, following the veteran performer's recent tour that included country Victoria.

Cohen has been touring Australia with Paul Kelly.

Tour promoter Frontier Touring yesterday said $200,000 would be donated on behalf of Cohen, Kelly and Frontier to aid victims of the Victorian bushfires.

Promoter Michael Gudinski said: "Leonard has loved his time in Australia . . . and is shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the fires."

Yes Les, the Aussies also think he's a Legend! It was during his last concert in Melbourne that he donated $200,000 and everyone was over the moon with his generosity! The fires have been devastating, but the stories we hear have been uplifting. A retired West Australian farmer got in his car, loaded up his caravan with generators, bbq's, clothes etc and headed across the Nullabor Desert to reach Marysville Victoria. He handed over the goods and his caravan to a homeless family to use until they rebuild, had a couple of beers with them and headed back to WA the next day... about 3,000 klms one way! Heartwarming stories of human kindness abound...Aussie spirit lives on...Diane

Good article Sandy...the guy's a Legend!
Just returned an hour ago from a Chris Isaak Concert, again at a vineyard...Leewin Estate in Margaret River.
Great singer and 7 thousand people sipped wine, had a picnic and sang along with Chris under a starry sky!

That sounds like another great night Diane. Hope they were giving the wine away but probably no such luck :)
