Flood in Verdun, 1913

This photo although of very poor quality, gives us a good idea of what happened in Verdun in the beginning of the 20th century when the St Lawrence overflowed into the streets of Verdun. This was a recurring problem until the city increased the height of the dam along the river. It was on this dam that the city later built the boardwalk wich Verdunites now take for granted. This photo taken on LaSalle boulevard near the avenues dates back to 1913.

JM has asked me if that object on the left in the background was a tramway as his research has showns that they ran on Lower Lachine Road (Lasalle Blvd) during that period. It is difficult to say as it seems to be small but it is possible.

Hello Guy I see the object in the distant background on the left, but I think it's up too high ?? Wouldn't it be travelling along the same roads as the Horse & Buggy ?I'll try to find those other flooded Verdun pictures that are around somewhere, Say hello to JMH HF&RV
