Margaret Perry Snow

Margaret lived on Egan near Verdun Ave back in the 50's with Ray Snow. They had a daughter, Anne, that was born around 1952. They later moved to Ville de la Salle on Stinson.

Margaret died in May of 2008 at the age of 82, I believe. I went to her funeral with my dad (Margaret's brother) at Willibroad Church last month. That afternoon, I went around Verdun and took some pics. They are up on the photo section of this site.

VERDUN CRAWFORDPARK Legion

I was raised and born in Crawfordpark..We all knew it
as the " OLD STONE HOUSE" although, yes, it was used
as a branch of the legion 212..I was a member of that
legion.I could still picture some of guys sitting
around and talking , like, Cyr Dillion , Andy Viau,
Monteith..etc etc..,Not sure if any of the O'Reillys
were members.Lots and lots of history there..

Guy..did you ever know a guy named " Norman Longely"
from Crawfordpark. He had a bad motorclye accident, he
hit the big fence at the Dougals Hospital,he ended up
in the Douglas Hospital..I always wonder how is he
doing today..

O"Connell Family Riverview Avenue

Greetings to all! I am looking for any information about the O"Connell family which lived on riverview Avenue in the 60s. Mrs O'Connell was a widow and the 3 children were Margaret, Eddie, and Audrey. All attended St Thomas More elementary and graduated from VCH in the 60s [Audrey 1969]. I understand margaret went on to study teaching, and Audrey music at McGill.
Any info at all would be greatly appreciated!
Best wishes
Gayle

MAY MOVE PIC

I've been lurking here for a little while and this is my first post so be kind to me if I mess it up.

A little background:

I was born in Newfoundland in 1936. My family moved to Verdun  (299-4th. - near Wellington) in 1950. That location is now a parking lot. I attended  Willibroad from 1950 to 1954 when I went to work for Bell.  Got married for the first time in 1959 and moved to Riverside Park (43rd. Ave.) in Lasalle. Since then I've lived all over including a 2 year stint  in Saudi Arabia. Now living happily ever after with current wife  here in Ottawa for half a year  and Cape Coral in Florida for the other half.

If there's anyone on here that remembers me (or my siblings), let's chat.

I just tried to attach a picture of a May Move (remember those?) but not sure if it took.

Todd Bentley - Broken Elbow Healed (X-Ray Proof)

Anyone familiar with Todd Bentley? He is a Canadian healing preacher who btw is covered in tattoos. Not your typical man of the cloth.

Natatorium Event

I was wondering where this photo was taken and then I noticed the background and the light went on, it's the Natarorium. What threw me off was the photo was taken after dark wich is unusual. Notice the ladies sweatshirt has the Verdun High School Crest. I wonder where this gal lives today, she might even be a member, who knows. Notice the big smile on the official's face.

Can someone please tell me when St-Willibrord School (Boys) was torn down. I remember it early 80's I think but need confirmation. I saw a play called Joe Beef there by David Fennarrio and someone told me that it was torn down before (I know the girls school was but not the boys).

Charles Turner

Charles if you see this message email me at dsimpson98@shaw.ca. I had a computer meltdown and lost everyone's email address and I would like to keep in touch

PAUL PATATES

Les,
Yesterday, after visiting the LaSalle Coke Crane, I continued east on St Patrick to Charlevoix, turned right to Coleraine and visited PAUL PATATES as previously promised and took the following photos. I met Danny Roy, the owner and had a chat with him, a fine chap. I also met Barry Fleischer who apparently makes their Root Beer and is or was the husband of the lady who deseased a year or 2 ago and who owned  Restaurant Emile Bertrand on Aqueduct street and previously on Notre Dame street. I have also enclosed the 2 photos of these two restaurants. As you can appreciate, there is a connection between these 3 establishments with quite a story to tell. The original restaurant started around 1898. Les, could you be good enough to reprint the previous postings concerning this subject as I am preparing an article for our magazine (SHGV) and I think our members would be interested in having information on this interesting subject. Incidently, the Hot Dog, fries and root beer were excellant (app. $5.00).

Fishing

I heard a rumour that there are far to many fish in Ontario lakes, so for the next five days I plan on doing something about. Going up to the Massasauga Park in Georgian Bay. I hope the weather is good - the way I see it, if you are not going to catch fish, you might as well not catch fish in good weather.

Willie, have been fishing lately?

Like Young

anybody remember the program on CFCF on Saturdays called "Like Young" with Jim McKenna & June Mack? I used to go on that program and dance with Stephen & Roddy Farrell; Brian & Barry Salway & Debby Humpfries & I think a couple more. I think it was around '63 or '64 that we went on that show.  Boy, good memories of that time.      Judy
