Les, This photo is new to me and I will make a copy for our archives. I would say that it is the same spot as the other photo. My guess is that it was situated just above  the Leblanc wharf wich was at the foot of first ave. therefore the swimming area was situated at the foot of 3rd or 4th av. although if I recall the water was pretty deep there. This photo also appeared in the Diamond Jubilee 1876 - 1936 publication. Although I already posted this photo, I am posting it again as it is clearer. Our archives states that this photo was taken either in 1900 or 1905, my research has not determined this yet. Notice that the Police and Fire department were formed in 1886, 10 years after the foundation of Verdun, and was situated on Ethel street, approximately behind the old city hall building on Church st. The early 1900s were the beginning of the automobile age thus the use of horses. Guy

This is a photo of the LaSalle Blvd fire station. The photo is undated but probably from the middle 30s. Guy

Here is another photo of a Verdun fire department fire truck. Notice the pavement, obviously taken on the Torchy Wharf (Quai de la Tortue) same as other photo. I would date this photo about 40s or 50s. Guy    PHOTO ARCHIVE SHGV     PHOTO VERDUN CONNECTION MEMBER

I guess they were shwocasing their truck & it's abilities,......you can see the fire hose coming from the river ,.and into the pumper truck../ I imagine they had their hoses shooting into the air??? Remember once a year the Verdun Fire Department would come to the Verdun Stadium, and allow us kids to see the power of the hoses, that were able to shoot a stream of water right across the Football Field.......( I put my hand in front of the stream........Don't Do That...........hahahahahaha) Also the fireman would stand around with one of those 'nets' trampoline looking thing, and let the kids jump off the top of that little shack that was on the sidelines of the fiels, I think it served as a makeshift storage shed ,where they kept the audio speaker system for the field,.or it was a concession stand ( I really don't remember that part) but it wasn't very high, but did serve to allow the kids to see what jumping into the net was like:   As far asd the bottom photo ,I believe that was DaveFlood's fathers car,....I seem to Remember he also had good pictures of Football Teams at the Stadium too:          Neat old photos Guy ,.Thanks Again for the input:                                                                                         HF&RV
