Generation Gap Reunion Verdun July 2008

Hi I have all the info and pictures for the different genesis of the Generation Gap starting off with the original band named the Gnomes featuring Danny Beck, Brent Meldrum, John Frainetti, Mike and Kevin Gauld and myself, Dave McAuliffe. The name was changed to the Kotics but that's a story that only Robin Williams could explain with some justice so we changed the name to The Generation Gap. The line-up changed with the addition of Charlie Clark, Kirby Edgel, Alex Bielajew, John and myself. Although we did have a sax and horn players in the band this did not last long. Played at various venues around Quebec, Ontario, new York and Vermont. Were the headliners at the 1968 Verdun Winter Carnival and played the Youth Pavillion at Man and His World. The Last time the band played togerher was in 1969 at Angrion Park with the line-up of John, Alex, Kevin, Mike and myself. Now for the good stuff. The band is planning a Verdun Reunion 40th. Anniversary get together in July of 2008. It will be a 60's theme reunion and to quote Mike G. it will be a "come as you were" party. You can get more info when you contact me at generationgap@hotmail.com So spread the word and hope to see you all there.
Dave

Wow, sounds like an awesome reunion. I used to take Piano Lessons at the same place as Alex (Violet Grant's) - I think it was on Second Ave, between Wellington and Verdun Ave. I still keep in touch with his cousin, Andrew Ciastek who is still a good friend. The last time I was at the #4 Legion was back in '79 or '80. I think you'll have a great turnout, there were flyers at the Strathcona Hotel in Toronto last Dec

This isnt the same Maureen Quinn who had brothers Frank and Terry and cousin to another Terry Quinn who married Susan Perry??

Do Terry and Susan Quinn live in Ville LaSalle today?

I am not sure where Susan & Terry Quinn live - she works for Bank of Montreal and they were both from the West End originally - St Anthony's Parish likewise the other Quinn Family that consisted of Frank, Maureen and Terry - the girls went to St Anthony's School and the boys to Belmont on Guy Street - Susan's sister Cathy and her husband Matt live in Calgary.

Thanks for the response. The Quinn's I am looking for lived in Ville La salle during the 70/80's.

I was referring to the late 50's early 60's then the whole area was torn asunder when the Ville Marie Expressway or whatever it is that went above St Antoine and of course destroyed everything in its pathway including St Anthony's Church and all the homes in the area.  Many moved to Verdun and NDG and some to the Point and later to Lasalle.

Hi Willie:   You're right about the location of Violet Grant's house. Remember the red-painted concrete steps?   One small correction, though. Andrew Ciastek is not my cousin! Just a longtime school friend. I saw Andrew a few years ago as he was passing through Michigan on business.   A note about the Gap Reunion. We're headed into the final rehearsals, the song list is set, the set organization ... almost. We're all looking forward to this. It WILL be a blast.   Alex

Hi Sharon,   I was expecting some vids on you tube as well. We're waiting for Dave McAuliffe and cohorts to edit these and get them up there. Meanwhile, there is one vid and a bunch of pix on facebook. Look for "Generation Gap".   Are you the same Sharon that lived on LaSalle Blvd, near 1st avenue?   Alex
