Also this summer ,they will hold the Wish Foundation get together at Therrien Park in Verdun..............George McCrae has over the years taken some really great photo's of Verdun near Therrien Park,.and also has mentioned the Crescendo Restaurant,(near Woodland-on the River side of the boardwalk)...................He is always speaking well of Verdun,.as well as running a Terrific website dedicated to all Pointers,..............and many of us have close ties to most of Montreal's areas.......especially the Point & Griffintown......etc etc ,..........so check out there site ,to see lot's of pictures,.as well as Events they post from time to time (usually & obviously events in the Point)..........but their Wish Foundation which was started in the Point,.is going to hold their Weekend Event in Verdun at Therrien Park (photo from Point Saint Charles site),.......... I believe this will be the 2nd year ,that Therrien Park is hosting the Event nice to see cooperation with other neighbourhoods, for good causes So if on August 3rd,4th & 5th,.you find yourself touring (with a T not a WH) around Verdun and nothing to do,.....maybe stop by & support this good cause........................................                  the Greenspace along towards Therrien is incredible now,....completely different from when we lived there..........as is the whole waterfront from StAnnedeBellvue,.....all the way past Montreal's Old Port area,.........very worthwhile seeing & experiencing :                                      Have Fun & Remember Verdun

Walter (Metalman),...........  that is one of the things I miss about living on the mainland,...you can jump in a car a be Downtown in a couple of hours,........Montreal was always so close to eveerywhere,.Boston ,NYC,.Ottawa ,....even if someone waanted to go to toronto ,.(why I don't know).......but at lest it could be done so easily,.....   Sorry to hear about being Cold & Windy,.....which is a switch seeing that it's been almost unbearably Hoe & Humid for a while:   At least you had some fun,...................are you staying closer to home for tomorow's Canada Day Holiday??  I would Imagine Ottawa will do up Canada Day pretty good,..................... There will be plenty of celebrations out here as well,...... but I will be at a  late afternoon BBQ,........etc etc ........             Thanks for the update....................                    HF&RV

Les, When I moved to Vancouver in 1968, I almost took a job on the island. I found the ferry would be too expensive, especially crossing with my family, car and trailer for trips to Washington, Vancouver and so on. I settled in South Burnaby and went (by myself) up the coast, North of Powell River where I drove Euclids in thequarry for three months. Good money but missed the family too much. Terribly boring work decending the switchbacks at 8 mph and going up at 4. Top speed on the machine was 28 mph. Went to Hunt's Transport. Hauling into Calgary/Edmonton. Sometimes hauled logs into the interior. Don't know why they call it the interior, I was always outside.    Ed

Walter who was the main headliner performing at the 2007 Montreal Jazz festival? I attended the 2005 festival and the main performer was Paul Anka. This was in the auditorium and there was a slight entrance fee. There were some fantastic jazz performers. I have lots of it on Video.

Hi Walter (metalman),..Here's a story about a place my son told me about ,.as he & his wife just went there a few weeks ago for a weekend escape camping,........This old guy built this town in the early 1980's  ,it's supposed to look like an old Western Ghost Town,..............called EmTe town Alberta..................................................   One man started this quaint little town in 1980. His name is Len Mohr and he is a retired building contractor from Spruce Grove. He lived across the Rose Creek until his house was flooded one spring and he moved across the creek into a meadow where the town now sits. He started building with the jailhouse which became his home for a few years while he worked on other buildings in the town. The next building he finished was the saloon, which is across the street from the jailhouse. From that point on he just kept building, never saying what was next just building it. In 1984 he started construction on the Cottonwood House and that was his new home until he sold it in 1990. He has since moved to Stony Plain and now resides on an acreage   http://www.emtetown.com/about.html http://www.emtetown.com/    I guess this sort of ties in with the BD theme,.......  Things Have Changed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0e4saINO_s   and SeconDave   Bill C ,.hope this ties right in with your Question. it's actually a few years old now ,but since it came out ,I loved it ,.nice to know that Dylan can be somewhat comprehensible when he want's to be:   .................................ahhh        But   I guess   "Things Have Changed"    People are crazy & times are strange ,I used to Care,.but Times have Changed.......................................( I have to say , I agree...hahahah HF&RV)

That great Dylan tune is from the movie 'Wonder Boys' with Mike Douglas and Frances McDormand. Which I own and watch from time to time. That video is a keeper btw. Thanks.

Yes I bought the album long before the movie had a chance,.You see living here in Victoria we are actually well below the 49th,...and so many of our radio stations are from the stateside,....i used to hear this tune,....and I'd call the local FM station ( be it ,Victoria or Vancouver,.which is either 100.3 FM Victoria,.or 101.1 Vancouver),.......and neither of these fools had even heard of it at first.....so I found the CD at a local store,......and about a year later both the movie & the CD started to get some airplay here,....... Unfortunately a couple of years after it's release old BobD,...came here to do a show,.and he was the same old incoherent a$$ h--le ,...he has been for some time,............too bad.//////   but as another groups song says , I won't get fooled again..............hahahahahah   although I do like some of his latest (last summer ) CD,.as he once again appears to be relatively coherent: that release is called "Modern Times"  not that bad really ,..... but skip any temptation to watch this guy live  (Just my opinion) http://www.bobdylan.com/moderntimes/albums/moderntimes.html ....Here's a tune from the Modern Times CD,.......called  When the Deal goes Down  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSXE5e4_C6A   ...................I sort of like this CD,.but still would never (never say never) go and see him at a live venue.........                                                         Have Fun & Remmeber Verdun
