Well hope this info is wrong,.but they are now reporting as many as 29 may have been shot & killed:........... origianlly reported as 22 (including the gunman),............but 3 different channels are reporting the higher death toll..........

Such senseless acts of mass murder is the result of horrible inner rage and hatred. My anger is so unbearably painful I want to die, and I'm going to take as many hateful people as I can with me. It will take years for those surviving college students to recover emotionally. How anyone can study after experiencing such a terrible day.

This could have been a school anywhere, with Our own ,kids or grandkids attending,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

There always was and always will be people with rage and anger.   I don't ever recall feeling unsafe going to school perhaps because it was a strict Catholic school where even spitting was not tolerated, or perhaps people found other ways to cope with their emotional disorders.  I don't know.     Today with the easy accessibility  to guns and violence all around us through the media, movies, TV, video games, news and daily images of dead soldiers coming home, kids have become  inmune to killing.    If kids are not receiving the guidance at home, then it is the schools, teachers and counsellors and youth organizations that have to come forward to catch the ones that may fall through the cracks before they harm themselves and society.  They say it takes a village to raise a child.   Dolly

Not really sure of the answers,.but I cannot disagree with the Village theory,. I beleive that a 'Sense of Right from Wrong' may have been more prevalent ,.also we had People who wouldn't hesitate to let you know ,& keep you inline(if need be),...........More People(not everyone of course) did look after everyone ,if only by spotting possible trouble and heading it off............ I think that all the people sitting out on there front gallery's (balcony's if you like0,.were always watching ,.............  as for guns ,.the opposite is true,.it was easier to get a gun back then,.You could walk into Canadian Tire & Buy a 22 calibre rifle with ease,.it wasn't till the 70's that they even started locking up the ammo.....and not to make it harder for the responsible person to get,.but to keep it from being stolen,.......... I suppose desenistised from violence is a possiblity,............but more likely we have more 'disturbed' people around who for some reason ,.are not getting help???   Who really knows ,.When even our news reports ,,some channels carry news 24/7.........normal radio ,the news is every half hour,........and we definetly are being bombarded with 'bad news' by the minute,...Does exposure to this .make one want to go on a killing spree???  Relative to the Worlds ever expanding population,.the actual deaths or murders are probably down,.percentage wise.....but again it is Just Incomprehensible : Maybe people Do need to interact with & help each other more........???   .........and on that note I now hear that the Death Toll has reached 33 .....

Baring insanity, which has been around forever. We (Canada & USA) have lost all sense of morality. I would say a majority of films, and the most popular video games, and TV shows, like The Sapranos, deal in violence. We have become immune to the horrors. And the anger that people build up inside them, just makes them want to make other people hurt as bad as they can possibly make them hurt. Misery loves company!!!! As there is no disipline any more. Teachers can't even say anything to students let alone correct the students behavior. Most of us, had to pay the price for bad behavior. If is wasn't a whack on the knuckles, or the strap, we were at least humuliated in front of the other students. Some of us, eventually got the message about bad behavior. Granted, it may have taken till we were adults, but at least we were thinking about it. I guess we could could on and on. Bad
parents, drugs, alcohol, environment, or maybe just something really stupid, like  someone giving us the  finger. No respect for anything, let alone human life. Enough already, I guess.

We will soon discover the shooters mental condition. The parents and associates must know something. I'd say he was a mental patient who if psychotic, was overwhelmed with an emotional pain we will never in a lifetime experience. Thank you God.

The police aren't releasing his/her name so far. Maybe it was a Moslem act of terror. Scary.

The FBI is on the campus so it's a matter of time before his identity is published. He had no identification on him. The latest news is he's a Chinese citizen on a student visa, and apparently jealousy is the motivation for the first 2 killings. God bless these poor tragic victims.

I see the writings of the gunman ,.were reported to the school as being a little nutty in nature,......(no fooling) I see also that a Canadian teacher is one of the 33 killed,........ Sadly now ,the task of putting Faces to the Names,,,,,,,, .22 calibre pistol (purchased last week) was one of the weapons,..... and a .9 mm Glock (purchased back in March )   .............................................................................You have to feel for the FAmilies......there will some difficult times ahead for family & friends as they try to come up with a reason Why,.................(There is None) and that takes a while to understand...........

Well the Canadian Teacher killed ,.was certainly well respected & liked by both students, and fellow teachers............and her whole family was into education,.. Her husband also taight at the same facility.........that must have been a little unnerving,.being in a lockdown situation,.and not knowing what's happening to your wife,.......... the couple also have kids in University in BC,..... seems they had the whole country covered,.......Originally the teacher killed was from Quebec,.and then moved to Truro NS,.where shes was instrumental in starting the first French School there: Her mother, who grew up in Quebec and moved with her family to Nova Scotia, was a passionate advocate of French-language education. She fought to create the first francophone school in Truro, N.S., in 1997. Seems odd that  Truro NS  never had a French School until 1997? I would have thought almost every known city in Canada would have had French schooling available long befre '97,........Congrats to her for her initiative,in accomplishing that: She left the province in 2001 when her husband was appointed the head of the horticulture department at Virginia Tech. the excerpts are from the article that appears in this morning's Gazette under the Headline: Virginia Tech killer committed suicide in Canadian professor's class Beth Gorham, Canadian Press Published: Thursday, April 19, 2007   or click on this link to read the whole story: http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/story.html?id=6e9e2608-18d9-4599-9c57-a86a67a732fb&k=77520   ..................................................................................................................................
