Absolutely summerish weather up here in the Comox Valley.  Sunny, warm and yup, the grass is going to start growing any second now, lol.   Cheers.

While I was outside with the dog a while ago, I checked the peonies and lo and behold they are up about 1" already.   We better get our lawn mower checked and ready to cut grass next......   Cheers

Here in Edmonton the weather has been decent even warmish  --- walking around with coats wide open.  Don't know why they call Edmonton the coldest city in Canada!  Still snow on the ground but old snow.  Yes.  No yard work yet!   Dolly

Gary (Arbutus) ,....old Mother Nature must have been watching the site yesterday,.as she left a light Frost this morning, just to show us she can change the Sunshine quickly..........hahahahaha ...but it's supposed to be Sunny now for the balance of this week,.according to the 7day forecast,......temps rising during the day,but a couple of near 0 days coming too!, can live with that,as long as we get the Rays during the day.................. Remember this old ad for Chiffon Margarine,   -----------------------                -------It's not nice to Fool Mother Nature----- Mother Nature - Dena Dietrich starred as the forest matron, Mother Nature in a series of successful 30-second commercials for Chiffon Margarine (1971-79). Dressed in a gown of white and adorned with a crown of daisies, Mother nature addresses an unseen narratorwho informs her "That's Chiffon Margarine, not butter." A perplexed Mother Nature replies "Margarine, oh, no, it's too sweet, too creamy." When the narrator tells her "Chiffon's so delicious, I guess it fooled even you, Mother Nature," the perturbed woodland  goddess lets loose lightning and thunder to express her anger. Her trademark catchphrase was "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature!" The melodic tagline for the ad reads: "If you think it's butter and it's not...it's Chiffon." And this was years before Fabio and a product called "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter."  TRIVIA NOTE: Introduced in 1962 by Anderson Clayton and Co., Chiffon margarine was the first soft tub margarine sold in a table service plastic container.

levisjeans7 MSN said...

Les do you remember the margarine that came
in a bag with a big dot of dye in it ? How gross we would have to keep squessing
it to get the dye all mixed into it. ah ah ah ah

les__f MSN said...

Yes I Remember as kids fighting over who got to do it,.until I got smart & let my kid sisters win,.........hahahahaha Funny thing was that was only  aw ay for Quebec to try & protect the Dairy Farmers ,by not allowing the coloured margarine ,but only allowing the ones with that food colouring dye ,which is all it was,...also Butter had it already added as well,.cause butter wasn't yellow either (not that yellow anyway)............We used to bring back from the states those tubs of margarine already mixed,,.....(bring back is code for smuggle, along with toys under the seats of the car,.....hahahahaha) And Margarine already colured was considered quite an 'invention' ......hahaha

redwing3235 MSN said...

I sure remember that margarine levis....It was always the kids job to mix it..I remember getting the dye all over my hands when I squeezed it into a bowl....yuk and to think we actually ate that stuff.....But often we had the contriband  kind from ontario already coloured.. that was a treat

les__f MSN said...

Remember when we made the transition to Plastic 4 qt Milk Jugs ,from the old Glass bottles the Milkman used to bring every morning or other morning ,depending on the size of your family,......... Ontarion gave .25 cents deposit onthe big bottles,.and if I Remember rightly Quebec did not pay back a deposit ,...(at least for a little while) they were just thrown in the garbage,..............then they experimented with those 'bags of milk' that you had to cut the corner off while it stood in a plastic juice type of container,......and if you made the cut the wrong way,.it wouldn't pour properly.............hahahahah

les__f MSN said...

Do they Still Use these or sell them?????

mom1945-linda MSN said...

I recall them also selling a little razor-blade gizmo to cut the corner off.  It was in a sort of plastic casing.  The bags were a little tight to fit the container, and the bottom of the container had to be banged in order for the bag to fit in.  Also, the bags often leaked...whewwwwww.

les__f MSN said...

Yes I Remember that little opener deal,...........but generally I used scissors or a knife and just slit the bag,.....also if you didn't bang the bag down,..You got the old bag folding half and pouring all over the counter when it flipped......hahahahah and You had to Rememeber to make sure the bag was in the conatiner properly before you cut the opening or else you neded up having to hold one corner of the bag as you poured it..........hahahaha That usually taught you to not open the bag till you knew it was secure in the plastic jug thing

rcdave1 MSN said...

Milk always comes in bags!  The one that comes to mind includes four (4) hangie-down thingies...Need a picture?

mom1945-linda MSN said...

RCDave   What sort of hangie-down thingies?  What do they look like?  By the way, milk that I buy comes in a plastic jug, not a bag!  I know it also comes in the waxed cardboard carton.  I think it comes in a variety of ways now-a-days.

I think there must be somethng acute-----ly wrong with me. I am as giddy as a school girl, and my heart is all a flutter. All I can say, is I am feeling , in a melancholy way, that I have spring fever, and it isn't even spring......it isn't....... even...... spring!!!! Or maybe it is the Montreal steamies and greasy french fries dancing like sugar plums in my head.  Seriously....it is 47F (9c) degrees here in Vancouver, Washington. The snow is almost gone, the winds are calm, at least here. In the Columbia gorge they are fairly strong, and just getting a little summery breeze here. Dare I say it??????  Can summer be just around the corner?

Sabby. The grass here in the Pacific Northwest doesn't disappear like it does back east. We get very little snow, and most of the time with can see the grass peaking thru. It isn't growing, but it stays green. In the summer is when it starts to go brown. No matter how much I mulch or aerate, or weed and feed, and try to water, it still turns brown. Becuase I am on a well, and don't really have enough pressure for a sprinkler system, I am up about 5:00am and start watering till about 10:00am on a sunny day. Then after 6:00 at night, I turn it on again. When there are lots of clouds, I have the spinkler going almost all day. I have to moved it about every 45 minutes. But this is not a complaint. When I think about the concrete, the pavement, the brick, etc, back in Montreal....I am just glad I am here. Now that I have gotten more tired talking about this....We are going to Las Vegas...BABY, on Thursday (early) and coming back late on Monday (midnight).....

Beautiful sunshine and mild temps here in Vancouver, Washington. Got a great power washer for Christmas, and for sure it is going to go some good use shortly. Our deck is 44 1/2 feet by 12 feet. I washed it last year, bought the stain for it, but I was a bad boy and didn't stain it. Also have to do the house because of the mildew and moss in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!!!!!!SO....double the work in the spring. The lawn is going to need extra care, about 2 acres worth. Then cutting branches, trying to kill blackberry vines. Okay, I am getting tired just thinking about it.
