The Wackers

Just found some discussions on the Wackers. Remember them well from the Moustache.
The nite a couple of guys got tossed because they did not like the look of them. Came back next night to finish it but all the waiters formed a semi circle behind them and when the band hit
a chorus of Ain't that Pecuilar lunged forward towards the guys who just then happened to notice small army behind them..they got the boot and the band played on....good times had by all....I heard all the waiters had to be 6ft or over to work there....
Turned on Q107 in Toronto and found Bob Segrani hope I spelled it rite working there. He would talk about the old days and who and where he played with..CSNY and so on...this was interesting...Not there now not sure what happened...guess they shook up the staff..
Anyone remember their ablum Wack and Roll..not sure if it ever got released....
This was a great band...spent alot of time at the Moustache..too much...but good times...

Hey Lad               The Moustache was a great place for up & coming bands. Remember the "small" bathroom that place had. I was 16yrs old (underage) in October 1979, and was there for a "Huge" drug raid. I had my hands on my head for an hour & another hour with my hands firmly on the table in front of me while the Montreal SWAT team "scowered" the place. If it wasn't for a "fake" ID my cousin made for me (made at VCHS), I'd have been with the others in the "paddy-wagons". Great times, Great times.   By the way, I think the "Blushing Brides" (Rolling Stones tribute band) were playing that night.   Earl.

Hi Earl   Before your time there was a couple of great bands...Cherry(from Houston ) and Dean Scott and the Circus later added Cosmic to their name.. Yeah the men's room was small. No fun when there was a line up... Missed that raid. Was in one downtown at another place called the Warehouse..the old 2020 bldg. at Mcgill metro...just followed them around the bar when I came out of the mens room had no idea what was going on...sat down no one said a word and they left....First place I discovered beer in pitchers was the Moustache....cheap beer and cheap prices..now who could beat that....   Lad

I do remember the "Warehouse" or as some people referred to as the "Scarehouse". How about the "Pioneer" in the west island or the "Saxony" in Rouses Point, N.Y.  These were places where a lot of us anglophones (& Verduners) hung-out.

Hi   Yup there and St.James pub on Drummond....not far to go....I think I had t shirt from John Bull.... Warehouse had those swinging doors on them...we used to get in by going thru the kitchen when line was too long. Knew the guys who worked there.Told everyone the tall waitress who all the guys liked was my sister.Drove them nuts when I got hugged and kissed......free drink did not hurt either...   Lad

The Saxony was an amazing place that brought in great bands. A group of my
friends and I used to go there quite regularly. Great, great, music and
memories.
