How come the weather forecaters are 100% right on when they call for bad weather,......but are batting less than 50% when forecating the Nice Stuff..........hahahahahah
Where's this Guy when you need him,........and all he had was a huge piece of Chalk,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,no computers or doppler radar.............hahahaha

Les. They have been predicting a cold artic air front coming down from Canada. Also they have the "Storm Center" on all the stations. Gee, I think we are really suppose to get socked with up to almost an inch of snow.... I think they might change that to "the snow should disappear by noon", but the temperatures are dropping to below freezing. What a difference between here and Montreal. Hope you don't get to much of the white stuff or the high winds....... Winston Allison.....Vancouver, Washington

Les,   Why do you think I'm home today?  :-)  Here in Alberta we are in the middle of a blizzard.  Big time!  That cold arctic air you mention is moving through the prairies and will hit the rest of Canada. soon   Edmonton is in a white out conditions, -30 (C & F), snow (20 cms (8 inches), no visibility, wind chill over 64 km per hour.  You'd think this was Iqualuit!  My boss travelling back today from Moncton so warned him his plane may not be able to land.   But this is Canada and like Gilles Vigneault sang, Mon pays, c'est l'hiver.  But hey it's nice when you're indoors and can look out the window.  I plan on using this day to cosy up in front of the fireplace and read and write and just relax and let mother nature take it's course.   You guys in BC have been having a rough time of it, aye!   Dolly

Hi you guys,....-30 Sabby ,that is chilly,....... I just walked in the door from shovelling the snow, from the driveway,.and walkways,.as well as the city sidewalk in front of the house,..and banged the snow of my neighbours cedar hedge (he's in the Dominican Republic,hahaha),....but the snow will collapse those things,& drop them from their normal 8' height to about half,....aside from wrecking them,.it looks kind of funny..............hahahah So mu point after all that drivel,is this,......I am looking out the window,......and it's sort of starting up again...........hahahaha but looks like a mixture of rain with it,......the news says another 5 or 6 cm's................Then it's over. .... Just like when I wash the car,.I get it done,...and that's a sure sign for the start of rain,........shovel the paths././/////and you can guarantee more white stuff...................

Sabby's storm is blowing through Saskatchewan too. -22C. windchill brings ithe temperature to -38. Couldn't see 2 meters ahead of me while driving to school this morning. Drifts are collecting and then being blown away and redeposited. Tough to get around. Only about half of the kids made it to school today. It's supposed to let up overnight. It's also supposed to drop to -30C (-45 with windchill) I get to stay home tomorrow so I might just keep the kids home from school. Here is a link to a handy conversion calculator. -40C = -40F http://www.tm-research.com/online/metric-conversion-calculator.html?val=-30

Maggie 45 below Cel. is 45 below is F. Holly Molly... No wonder we us the F word when it is 45 degrees below 0. What is up with that?????? Here in Vancouver we complain IF it goes below freezing. That is because driving is the pits when it is icy....OH OH I just thought of the F word.

A little update here in Edmonton.  Snow and wind have died but getting colder ... up to that -30C with the windchill factor.  The roads and highways are deadly but tomorrow just cold and more cold.  I don't mind the snow but the cold can kill.  Gotta go to work tomorrow.  Albertans are a hardy bunch...but but but...at my age, I've learned to pamper myself, and have nothing to prove, so scraves and lots of layering tomorrow and complaints about the frigid Arctic cold!  At least I get a lift into the city but have to (shiver) take the bus home.  At least it's a short ride.  Keep warm!   Dolly

Hi all you hearty souls,   Glad to see that some of you are getting to enjoy some whiteness, lol.  We have had it for 2 days now, and as of right now, all is calm and quiet!   Sooooooooo have fun in what we have had up here in the Comox Valley since before Christmas.  Rain boots we know........snow boots ~~~ we don't.   Cheers.

I had a friend pick the kids up from school, the wind and snow were and are still blowing, some drifts are up to 2 meters. When I got home from school the kids had bundled themselves up and topped it off with ski goggles. They headed out to the back yard and spent better than an hour enjoying the great white-out. -20C just means it's winter, eh?

mom1945-linda MSN said...

Maggie McK   They say that we don't stop playing because we grow old, but rather, we grow old because we stop playing.  Maybe you should have bundled yourself up and gone out and played with the kids.  I'm sure they wouldn't have objected.   But, yup, guess it's winter.

les__f MSN said...

Hi Maggie,.....it's -1 here and they told us this aftrnoon it was over, but possible for a light flurrie overnight,......I have cleaned shovelled,...everything here today twice....................hahahaha and I just looked  out the window and cannot see the car.........or the street or all the places I already shovelled....................Yikes...........hahahahaha Guess I'm doing it again............the one spot I haven't cleared off yet ,is the sundeck..........(not much sun on it).......So I will be clearing that off too! It's supposed to hover around the - 5,....so that means the stuff isn't going to melt too quickly,.................this is strange and not common for our winters ,.but That's Life........ I know you guys are a lot colder,........seems that Sabby wasn't the only one staying home today,.............Shawn (the oldest) took the day off ,due to blowing white out conditions ,and heading into the Edmonton wasn't on the menu,if you can't see,..why drive...... Great for the kids ,.cause these will be some of the days they will Remember in the Future....................................

les__f MSN said...

Mom45 are you getting any of this recent snow ?? Your being awful quiet about that............... I know Nanaimo got some ,....but you guys of course have had more than your share,.......bet the Mountains Hummimg Along though..........   Do Ski Mom............................or just Whi-skey............hahahahaha

Hi Les, Linda, Ed, Winston, Mike, Sandy, Sabby, Maggie, and anyone else still  up!   Here in the Halifax area of Nova Scotia it is -2C, and we don't have any snow to speak of, just a light dusting. And it seems that it will continue on like this for a few more days.   It was like this last year too. However, last June was a miserable month. So as I see it, it's pay now or pay later!   Dianne from Beaver Bank, near Halifax, Nova Scotia

mom1945-linda MSN said...

Hi Dianne,   Oh that's it....brag, brag, brag.  You can come out here and visit us in BC if you feel left out and missing all that snow!!!!   Just kidding, hope it returns to your part of the country........just so you won't feel so lonesome.

I also still have aside from my 66 ,. the Complete Power train that I had built in STIsidore,(near the Mercier S shore),......ready to be dropped into something that would be of value,..... from the posi rear end ,.....right through the RockCrusher Trans,........all the way up to the 3core Rad I had specially built in the 70's. ...........hahahahah  & Don't think Teresa wouldn't like to see those things gone.......     It now has a million things sitting in it ,on it ,....even a couple of casses of wine............hahahahaha  I can't find the picture of it sitting in the old garage,....I posted them onve before, but I will have to find them .....Take my word for it it's dirty I've got better pics somewhere,... and as for the Powertrain ,it's all wrapped up & waiting for 'something'\ You  know what it's like I have had it since the early 70's..............hahaha

Hey the temps' gone up,............it's at 0 now,..............well it's at least headed in the right direction............instead of the -5 they are forecasting.Maybe the snow will be gone by morning (sure it will),....I'll be out with  the shovel again........................................................................................

I hope everyone is doing okay with this terribly cold weather, plus all the snow, snowdrifts, and wind. Stay indoors if you can. I see that a mother and son died because their car got stuck and they left it to find safety somewhere. They didn't make it. It is cold in Vancouver, Washington, and it is not snowing as of 5:40am. Will have to see how the rest of the Portland/Vancouver area is doing when people start their commute this morning. Have a nice day everyone. Winston Allison

les__f MSN said...

-2 right now,....it was a little cooler earlier with the wind winding up every so often,.....You know the type ,when your about to throw a shovel full of that powdery type snow,.....and half blows right back at you ,.just in case you weren't awake yet,................hahahahaha Caught me once on that one,... but it was kind of nice out there with it being still darkish,...and a big bright half moon shining back down,....from a cold crystal sky,.... just like skating late at night on a rink ,when we were kids, and they turn the light out (at center ice),...and you can still see due to the moonlight, it was chilly ,.but neat to be out there,......(easier to shovel snow,it was more like plowing it really ,as the colder air drives the moisture out of it) Anyway the day has turned into a nice Sunrise, and a cold but blue sky, Still on this side of the Frozen Turf,.......so I guess it's a good day, As they say 'everyday above ground is a good day'.........

Les that is a nice car. I  have a 1990 Cougar XR7 with a 3.8 Supercharge there are not that many around most people don't even know they put a supercharge in the Cougar only the Thunderbird SC. The 89/90 is when they tried to revive the Cougar after a lot of big boats that did not do justice to the cougar's history as a sports car cousin to the mustang. But it is not in the same class as that Lemans of yours. Danny

Looks like most of the midwest, all the way down to Texas are getting the arctic weather. Even California is being threatened by the Siberian Arctic blast. They are talking about $1 billion dollar lose in their citrus crop. They are burning anything they can get their hands on to burn, just to create some heat in the orchards, including trash, peach pits, etc.  Hardly any complaints here in Vancouver, Washington.

The forecast here is for some accumualtion over night,...up to 5cm's ? but it's almost eleven pm: right now and no sign of anything, maybe this one will just pass us by? Time to get back to normal,..we've had everything from Excessive wind,...rain,...& of course snow,..........hahahahaha So It would be nice to see if we could hit a record heat wave.......for the balance of this month anyway: BC's forests can really use some real cold weather, for a little while ,to try & kill off the pine beetle that's eating the Province from one side to the other....
