Wendy Remember when the Mowtown sound was around,......and of course leading into the 'Are you Experienced' generation,.....the Doors,.Joplin,Hendrix,..... and there were alot of good groups fromVerdun, .............but yes the grinding was nice (when you got some........hahahaha) but also Remember the whole crowd Dancing and there was a few who drew the attention of all,.......but all in all it was an interesting place,I some how Remember the Rec being more just music than bands,........but in any case still but all in all,.....you can't beat Mowtown,.cause that's where the rreal grinders music came from,.......... and for the guys that couldn't showcase their talents with the faster music,.the Slllllooooooooooooow Stuff,.......was very forgiving hahahaha (when you were lucky enough to be Ok'd for a dance).........hahahaha You Gals had all the Power.....................hahahahahah but Thanks to the ones that made us 'feel' good.............hahahahahaha Now don't get caught firing up that ...........whatever behind the 'rec' or having a siwg out of a 'mickey'.........hahahahha

Someone out there must have a good shot of the outside of the 'Rec'..... .........I'm sure that would spark a few memories ,......if not a few stories (that can be told).................hahahahahahah ( and many that cannot) Some old pictures are always Welcome .............so start digging and let's see some of that old History, hidden away in those old 'shoebox's ',     or whatever

I love that Motown music. I just bought a cd. from
ROOTS
store, that has the best mix of MOTOWN you just
can't sit down when you hear it Aretha still rocks.
I get a kick out of the young people who still
listen to Jim Morrison. and who have Hendrix posters hanging in their rooms. My
daughter is one.
Alot of todays music are remakes, I laugh when
these kid's are in shock when we know the music well.
My mom used to say "If you only knew your homwork
as well as you know the words to those songs"
Wendy and I were best friends for years we often
laugh our heads off when talking aboout the things we did growing yp in Verdun.
Now that Wendy is on the site I sure you will hear all about them.
I'm still doing the Harlem Shuffle.

Hi Les, you can,t beat Motown. I just heard an old 4tops tune this aftenoon on the way to pick up my son from school.Sugar Pie Honey Bunch(Cant't Help Myself) love it.My kids listen to Metal Don,t like it.I listen to classic rock stations or the oldies.I remember when we used to go to the rec., on Sat. afternoon we would go buy a qrt. of beer a piece, hide it in the snow behind the landry mat on Bannantyne next to Jacques Potate and go back before going to the dance, drink the beer behind the landry mat because it was nice and warm from the dryers exhaust vents.

You naughty girl. I never did anything like
that!!!

Wendy.   Never did that in my life! But, if I did, the scenario would be exactly how you describe. Had a few buds from VHS and we would often do something similar...think you know who they might have been.   Keep well....and keep listening to the Classics!   Glen

Wendy.   Welcome to this site. I don't often "come" here, but it is a terrific way to keep in touch with Verdun. My most recent posts have been in an attempt to help a good friend of mine find his birth parents, and I would like to thank everyone at this site who have offered up suggestions, tips, etc. in our search. Although there is no positive news to report at this time, all leads and suggestions have been followed up on, and we continue the process. We knew it was not going to be an easy process, but we are determined.   Glen
