The Queen

I listened to the Queen's Christmas message, it was very insightful. Particularly the part about the old have much to give to the young. As I read the posts from you all on this sight I realize the knowledge out there is tremendous. Her messages are always down to earth. In spite of what anyone thinks of the Queen she has lived an exemplary life and has earned the right to speak out.

Hi Ed...Merry Christmas!!   I didn't listen to her address this year but it was mentioned on the news that she also asked for people to be more tollerant of each other's faith and beliefs.   I can't imagine what it must be like having the family problems plastered all over every newspaper and news cast. If it was me I think I would have hidden away somewhere and never shown my face. She has always come across as a cold person, to me anyway. She and the family have tried to be more warm hearted after Diana's death. It can't be an easy life even if they have all the money and luxury.   Dianne

There was a series on TV  a while ago showing what a day in the life of the Queen was like - my sister said it was amazing - she NEVER stops. Back when she was growing up parents didnt show much emotion - I am thinking about my granny - they didnt complain about their lot in life they just got on with it.

It's interesting that the European Economic Community office has 4000 people where the British Empire Office is run by the Queen and two others. The things I remember about the Royal Family begin with the King walking the streets of London during the bombings to give people courage. Churchill once asked him to leavr London and he said "If I leave the people will leave . We must stay and fight." The Queen herself at eighteen drove an ambulance in the army corps. The Queen Mother was a gem. She once was dancing with a soldier at a royal ball when she was called to the phone. Seeing the young man abandoned the Queen stepped in to dance. On her return the Queen Mother said, "You snob. Wasn't I good enough for you.?" I enjoyed Prince Philip's sense of humor. Once on the royal yacht the basket of dinner rolls tipped over. Half hit the floor and half in the Princes lap. He said to the Queen, "I've got mine. Yours are down there."                       Ed

I heard that it is a good movie too. I saw a picture of the actress Helen Mirren who plays the Queen and she looks so much like the Queen. It is amazing what make up artists can do.   Dianne
