happydi2 MSN said...

I'm still up here in Nova Scotia   Dianne

maggiemck MSN said...

Are you getting some snow now that Christmas is over?

happydi2 MSN said...

Not here, still getting rain! but I am sure we will get the white stuff soon enough!

maggiemck MSN said...

we are having a pretty mild winter but it is still below 0C. Lots of snow for outdoor fun

happydi2 MSN said...

The ski resorts are very worried again this year. Business is very bad for them again.

maggiemck MSN said...

it's been lovely at the ski hill here. They opened on Dec. 9. The weather has been great. Last year it was -35 on opening day. -5 to -10 is much better   Did you have a nice Christmas?

maggiemck MSN said...

This is a very slow way to "chat".

happydi2 MSN said...

It was wonderful! It began last Thursday,  we went to Moncton to visit my husband's family. Then on to Saint John for a couple of days to visit our daughter who lives there. Christmas Eve we returned home and on Christmas day we went to our other daughter's in Bridgewater, N.S. for the afternoon and evening.  Lots of fun especially with the grandkids but once again we ate too much!!! today we relaxed and did as little as possible!   How was your Christmas?

happydi2 MSN said...

Yes it is! But what can we do? It is better than nothing I guess!

winnie3ave MSN said...

Dianne. You can have all the white stuff....Even our share.

No way!!! I don't want it!!!! I know we will get it before long!! But I can wait! i am not a winter person.

maggiemck MSN said...

Our Christmas was good, we had most of our kids home. Our oldest son wasn't able to get away. The grandchildren and our youngest two kids were busy with all the new "stuff". Turkey was cooked this time (thanksgiving the stove broke down) and we all ate more than we should have. Today we went to our oldest daughter's house for another Christmas dinner....tomorrow we are off to the ski hill to wear some off!

happydi2 MSN said...

Oh no, the stove broke down for Thanksgiving!! I bet there is a funny story there about that!!!   I will definitely have to do something about the extra poundage.....I guess I will have to make a New Years resolution and hopefully will find the will power not to break it!!

maggiemck MSN said...

Thanksgiving "turkey" story is still too fresh to be funny. I'm trying the "after eight" diet. No calories after 8 p.m. This should at least halt my weight gain as this is when I do most of my unhealthy munching

happydi2 MSN said...

Winston we had a wonderful Christmas. How about you? I enjoyed your Christmas greetings.

winnie3ave MSN said...

Dianne. I don't want to put any ideas in your head, but exercise, walking, and swimming are a good thing, but not enjoyable all the time. Sexual activity uses lots of calories....ya...that's a thought....

Maggie that is when I do mine too...especially while sitting here.    Give it some time, I am sure one day you'll think it was funny! Did you have a crowd for dinner?   One christmas my mother forgot to turn on the oven and when she realised what happened it was about 6 P.M. We ate very late that night! Of course we didn't let her live it down for years!!

happydi2 MSN said...

Winston....I hate certain types of exercise. Especially excercise that doesn't require a partner. LOL!!....You can loose quite a few calories depending on how vigorous the work out!

maggiemck MSN said...

We had 14 people here for supper and the oven element kicked out after about an hour. We didn't realize it though until we were about to serve supper. Microwaving does not do justice to turkey.

happydi2 MSN said...

Oh boy, that's too bad and you have to be careful. I wonder if it could have been finished on the barbecue?

maggiemck MSN said...

It never crossed my mind to finish it in the BBQ. When I pick up something to eat after supper now, I look at the clock, it is working so far. (I did make an exception for Christmas).

maggiemck MSN said...

I'm gonna say goodnight now. It's been nice "chatting". Have a great night!

happydi2 MSN said...

Christmas is all about the food and entertaining so it would be really hard to diet during the holidays, or on Christmas day. I didn't bake too many sweets this year, but give me a bag of Lays potato chips and some dip and I'm in heaven. And of course a glass of wine to wash it down. LOL!!

happydi2 MSN said...

Good night Maggie and yes it was nice "chatting".   Dianne

I will tell you that Christmas was great again this year. My dauther, her husband, and my grandson and granddaughter spent the night. They use to live with us for about 4 1/2 years. IT WAS GREAT, my son heard they were spending the night, so him and his wife and another grandaughter spent the night also. The grandkids are 10 (boy), 9 (a girl), 18 months (a girl). Then our other daughter and her husband came over on Christmas day. I am so blessed. What a joy they are. I am not bragging about them, but I am just a cream puff, I can't remember how to spell WHUSE(?). I am an emotional basket case, and appreciate all the tidbits thrown my way. I cry at the drop of a hat, and am so thankful for thse blessings. Any while I am at it...it seems there are only a few of use on line.....I appreciate you ladies as well. Thanks ...

Any night hawks up at this hour? I know on the West coast it is early....it's only 11 PM there but here on the Atlantic coast it is almost 3AM!!!   Every one have a beautiful Christmas and are you all getting ready for the big count down on New Years Eve? Imagine ...2007!! What happened to 2006? The days go by too fast!!   Any big parties planned for New Years Eve? We will be celebrating by ourselves this year! Am looking forward to it. Have a bottle of champagne and a few treats planned for the evening. Then once the holidays are over I am going to have to go on a diet! Have been treating myself too often and it is beginning to show!!!   Dianne

Hi there Winston!  It is a great way to start off the day with a laugh!   My husband keeps telling me the same thing...more to love....and yeah, I'm thinking of the monument!!!   Dianne

Dianne. Many of the aspects of S** are mental. If that is the case, I should probably be in a mental institution. The more I think about it....the more of think about it.  It does help pass the time. AND the exercise doesn't hurt.......unless you are doing it wrong!!!!!

Dave vs. Carl: The Insignificant Championship Series.  Who will win?

happydi2 MSN said...

Winston:  Thinking is a good thing. The brain is a muscle and needs to be exercised on a regular basis like all the other parts of the body.   I don't remember who said this joke, the gist of it is this......   Sex on TV shouldn't hurt you, unless you fall off!   Do you think Woody Allan said that joke? It sounds like him!   Dianne

winnie3ave MSN said...

Dianne. I see you may be a Woody Allan fan. I am a huge fan of his movies. He may have been the one who said that, about falling off the TV. You don't want to be having sex on the TV, especially if someone is try to watch a show. That might be rude....or something.... At least wait till their show is over. Hope your New Years is going well so fair....and that you are getting the proper amount of exercise....... Sometimes that can be a monumental task!!!!!!

Except if it was Mr. Maltby.....he wouldn't be able to get close to the wall!

Are you sure Mom,........looks like he could get close to the 'far' wall

winnie3ave MSN said...

I think Mr. Maltby took that 36 hour medicine. It doesn't look like he got a chance to use it the entire 36 hours. OR....maybe he just passed out after going at it for quite a while, and is just resting up.......well somthing is UP!!!!!! that's for sure.

Any night hawks still up?   This has been quite the night for me! My daughter has been visiting from Saint John, N.B. with one of her dogs. They arrived yesterday and since yesterday her dog Tawny and my dog Rory have had 3 fights. Tonight we took my dog to the Emergency Vet Clinic and $430.30 later we have her home. Dog fights are awful!!!   My daughter is here for 8 days with her dog......we are going to see the Skate Canada Figure skating championships being held in Halifax this year...I have a feeling this is going to be a long 8 days!!! Tomorrow we are going to a pet store to buy her dog a muzzel...I hope it works.   While waiting for our dog to be released from the Vet's clinic we went to Karaoke for a few hours...we had a good time but when we went to pick up poor Rory we felt so bad for her....I hope she will feel better tomorrow.   Dianne

mom1945-linda MSN said...

Dianne,   Poor Rory........sure do hope she's not hurting too much.   Never had a dog of ours involved in a fight, but had a neighbour's cat fighting in our yard.  They tore each other's ear just about off....and the schreeches.....WOW.   But you must have seen a pretty good fight to be worth $430.30!!!!!

arbutus MSN said...

Tawny has to go IMHO!!!!!

happydi2 MSN said...

Hi Everybody1   I'll give you all an up date on Rory tomorrow! But I'll give you a hint on her progress...she's milking it for all it's worth...the sympathy...what a girl she is too! The Vet referred to her as an "Old Lady"....she is almost 11 years old! Tawny is not happy about the muzzle.....too bad Tawny!!! But she is/was a nice dog...I am trying to give her a second chance.   It is late and I am off to bed.....   Ciao....Dianne

rainy day man MSN said...

there should be no second chances for fighting dogs ....   i doubt they will ever stop Di....

maggiemck MSN said...

I would be looking at a kennel stay for the remainder of the visit. (It would be a cheaper choice).

happydi2 MSN said...

Rory's injuries seem to be healing. She looks pretty bad with all the shaved spots on her head, face and neck. Other than the bad gash on her muzzle the other injuries are pretty superficial. In other words she looks worse than she really is! She is staying away from Tawny and Tawny seems to be putting up with the muzzle.     We are having a stormy night, snow and ice pellets.....tomorrow my daughter and I are going to Halifax to watch the Canadian Figure Skating Championships. We'll be gone all day from about 8Am until 10PM...And the event lasts all week until next Sunday night.   Dianne

happydi2 MSN said...

My dog Rory is the small white dog and the other dog is my daughter's dog Tawny. this was taken a couple of years ago and they always got along fine until this trip.

winnie3ave MSN said...

Dianne. Have a safe trip to Halifax. Be careful out there!!!! Winston

happydi2 MSN said...

Hi Winston!   Thanks for your concern! Don't worry we will be careful. My husband has talked us into driving to the express bus Park and Go for tomorrow's trip to Halifax.  So it wont be too bad. We might take the bus the whole week. We looking forward to see the figure skating. We'll be there ever day, all day until Sunday evening. The arena is in central downtown area so if we get tired of the skating we can go shopping!!!!   My husband will be fending for himself all week with the two dogs. But we do have a date Thursday night at our favourite Karaoke bar.....I'll give you all a play by play of the week's events.   Dianne
