Verdun/Montreal sure had a lot of fires,..at least from what I Remember, it has amazed me that not that many lives are lost,in these fires,.which seem to be always (or at least more frequent) during winter months,.I suppose for a few obvious reasons,......but when you see & hear that 6 fa,ilies lost there homes,..we have a tendency to briefly think 'well that's too bad,.but at least noone was hurt'.......and then we dismiss the thought,.but the reality is these families now have nothing & nowhere to put it ,if they did have something,... clothes ,food, shelter,furniture,.......    it's hard for them ,.even if they are insured,it takes time to rebuild,....They Need Help... that's why when they get help, they are overwhelmed by the generocity of what amounts to,'just being a good neighbour' .............We all need to be better neighbours ' & just help people when & if we can,........without feeling the need for any accolades if we do...............but you all being Montrealers and Verdun (ers- ites),...already know that ,As I've seen many of us be able to passionately defend our point of view,or opions ,or political leans, and we can all be quite vocipherous (help me with that spelling .......hahaha),...............but afterall is said and done ,..Good People Rally to help each other...........and I think we all fall into that boat,.... .................................................Thanks for that Verdun update Guy,....

Glad to hear no one was hurt, but losing ones home etc. is also a hardship at this time of year my prayers are with the Families.
I remember many places burning in winter months tis the worse time of year.

For a short time, my mother, brother and I lived in a walk up on the corner of 3rd avenue and Wellington.  There always seemed to be a fire around that corner.  I can remember as a teenager looking from my bedroom window across the street, watching firemen put out a fire,  and wondering where the people would go.  Later, with my future husband, we lived on Lavoie Street in the Cote des Neiges area near the Cote des Neiges metro.  I can remember waking up in the middle of the night to see the reflection of red flames/heat against our bedroom wall ---- the building behind us was on fire!  It was frightening because we didn't know if any flames would jump to our building.   Since then, I have met people who have been in fires as children either in the city or on the farm.  It has scarred many of them.   I can only imagine  how it must be to lose everything.  Yes, they are only things and things can be replaced, but still, the trauma especially for children does leave a mark.   That photo, Guy, brings back memories....

Seems there was another Montreal Fire overnight, this time at a Seniors Home in Lachine,...on the news on CBC newsworld, they showed pictures of the top of the building fully engulfed in Flames,....the Firemen had to rush to evacuate everyone,.before the roof collapsed,.they did apparently,.and then the roof did collapse afterwards,....I don't think anyone was injured,.....that's good.............but again there's alot of peopel without a home right now. Here's the story from CJAD website,.....but I haven't found much else on it yet. - Fire in Lachine area early this morning

An apartment building in Lachine was hit by fire early this morning. It broke out on the third floor on the residence at 775 St. Louis street in Lachine and later spread to the roof, which ended up caving in.
The residence houses mostly seniors. There were about 40 people living there all of them managed to get out safely. No word on what caused it.
