I know the area well, I have a cottage on Lake Memphremagog , its called spoiled rotten , it has now been discovered by the money crowd and the houses along the shoreline are unbelieveable , the peace and tranquility are leaving the area ,a nd the big boats are here to stay, makes fishing not so interesting , however to each their own   . jimmy

Hi Jimmy (kungfu),......I thought you had mentioned having a spot, out there ,in all your years fishing & relaxing out there did you ever see the monster of the Lake  Tout a propos de Memphr챕 " Le Monstre du Lac Memphr챕magog"   We have our share of 'Monsters ' here as well,.......there's the well known 'Ogopogo' in the okanagan,...we also have 'Caddy' purporedly spotted here in Cadboro Bay,.....down the road from us a bit,.......and at one time People have claimed to see a monster in the waterway here in Victoria as the Gorge,.......guess what they called it ..........'Gore-geous'..........hahahahaha I looked for a Monster one day while we were out boating around, and once on a real calm day,.....I spotted this horrible looking thing, looking back up at me on the boat,.....then I realised it was 'My Reflection'................hahahahaha

hahahaha your nuts  hahahaha, once just after the ice went out , I was fishing with my son, it was around 5 am , fog , something came out of the water in front of my boat, must have been a mile long ( 6 feet ? ) never saw the head or the tail , it just rolled and went back down, I think maybe its a giant Sturgeon or something like that, this lake is 400 feet deep in someplaces. Today , the boats almost make one not want to fish, they are either going 50 miles an hour , or are so large , they cause a big wake , I kinda have given up fishing, there, however the grandchildren love it, it is pretty clean and swimable , which a lot of lakes are not anymore , hang tough   Jimmy

Les _F, For those who frequented Lake Champlain at the Plattsburgh City Beach and the NY State Campsite next to it there was the well known Monster of Lake Champlain. A resident on Cumberlad Head took pictures in the 80's that appeared in Readers Digest. Ruth

What I remember of Memphramagog was that my friend had a cottage there somewhere near a monastry. In the evening the monks used to row a twenty man boat to the middle of the lake and sing in harmony. First time I heard "Michael, row the boat ashore' The sound drifted in all directions over the lake. We would take chairs down to the water's edge and wait for them.  Ed

Ed you are remembering St. Benoit du Lac Abbey - wonder if the monks still do that??? we bought 3.5 acres on Lake Memphremagog about 10 minutes from the Abbey.
